When music lover and motorcycle enthusiast Paul Bigsby said "I can build anything", he wasn't kidding. This was his response to country star Merle Travis in 1946 when he approached Bigsby to create a vibrato for his guitar. The device he created set the standard and became the vibrato of choice for most guitar manufactures all over the world and remains so today. The Bigsby vibrato tailpiece allows guitarists to bend the pitch of notes and chords to create many different effects.
Bigsby vibratos are still factory installed on many electric guitars today including PRS, Epiphone, Fender, Gibson, Gretsch, and Ibanez. The list of musicians who use Bigsby is unparalleled; Neil Young, Jeff Beck, Keith Richards, Paul McCartney, John Lennon, and Stephen Stills are just a few of the incredible list.
