Have you ever sat in a barber's chair wishing your tone was as slick as your freshly shaved upper lip? With the Barbershop Overdrive on your pedalboard, you could keep your moustache and sound good doing it.The Barbershop is an original design, not a clone.Raw, gritty, warm, smooth, open and transparent are all terms that have been used to describe this overdrive. It sounds great with any setup, but truly shines when used to dirty up a tube amp.

Just spent a few hours playing with my new Barbershop overdrive. For my purposes, this pedal seamlessly fills the void in my pedalboard between my low-gain/clean boost Nobels ODR-1 reissue, my mid-gain RAT 2, & my higher-gain Wren and Cuff Tall Font Russian. I should also mention that it plays well with other OD/distortion pedals, especially stacked with the Nobels.
"Open" best describes this pedal. It's extremely sensitive to picking dynamics and very amp-like in break-up response.
Although it can come as close to transparent as the Visual Sound Open Road I'm replacing with the Barbershop, for me, the sweet spot and magic is in the "Sag" knob at roughly half-way. This adds a bit of top-end grit and bite, but allows the 3D-ness and string definition to shine through on even the most complex/dissonant chords.
I'm truly excited to play with it some more and discover it's many usable settings. Fairfield is pure witchcraft!

Took me a while to get this one, but I came back to it after initial frustration and it's become a new fav. I found it to be very interactive not only b/w the drive an sag levels on the pedal itself but also with the guitar and amp settings. So besides just tweaking the pedal a lot, it took some work with my amp and guitar to get it right. Once I realized this, only then did I experience the true verstality of the Barbershop. It does the "brown" sound very, very well and offers a hint of fuzz depending on your attack, but it can also give you a very transparent and usable low-gain overdrive of differing complexities. Very responsive to playing style. Stacks well. Very cool, very classic. Just give it time.

This pedal is flat out fantastic. It reacts to the dynamics of your playing style and really gives the sound and feel of natural tube saturation. This pedal is a must for anyone looking for a low-medium gain dirt pedal that lets your guitar's tone shine.
