The DB4 is the newest collaboration to come from Dr. Z and Brad Paisley. Seeking something in the realm of British-voiced, warm sounding amps, the input stage utilizes a 5879 U.S. made pentode preamp tube. This just happens to be the same tube Les Paul used in his Gibson GA-40 amps back in the day.
With a wide tonal palate, Dr. Z placed a rotary frequency filter at the end of the input stage, as well as a cut control on the four EL84 output tubes. Think of it as a brilliance knob for your preamp and a tone control for your power tubes. With this much direct control over the signal, the DB4 is capable of everything from jangly twang to deep, full-body resonance.
