Description & Specs

Guild USA D-40 Dreadnought Sitka Spruce/Mahogany Natural

The D-40 is perfect for players looking for that ultimate dreadnought sound. The classic combination of a solid Sitka spruce top and solid mahogany back and sides provides remarkable volume, clarity and sustain. Brand new to the Guild USA line, this model features white ABS binding, a rosewood bridge and fingerboard, and a bone nut and saddle. A thin satin varnish gives this guitar its familiar, broken-in look and feel, while also allowing it to breathe. The D-40’s timeless appointments include a vintage style rosette and Guild’s peak logo inlaid on the headstock. Each D-40 comes with a hand-signed, numbered certificate of authenticity, and ships with a humidified hardshell case.

I recommend this product
Excellent guitar

I purchased a D-40 from CME that was reduced in price as it had some "slight finish imperfections" on the heel. I have yet to find the imperfections and at this point I've probably put enough slight dents and dings on the guitar to outweigh whatever it shipped with. I was a little hesitant to order but after a phone call and discussion with the CME folks I grabbed it. Not a single regret. The guitar is beautiful, plays really well and sounds incredible. I play in a 4 piece outfit with stand up bass, dobro, and mandolin. This guitar projects, has volume and great tone and is fun to play. Even full price, this guitar is a great buy. If you are looking for a nice solid wood dreadnought made in the USA but are looking to go beyond the usual suspects then I definitely encourage you to check out Guild. I feel like this guitar is for guitar players. While they make other models that might be more suited to collectors, this one is nothing but the essentials, a guitar with the single purpose of making great sounds and holding it's own in whatever group you play with. My only complaint is that I find myself picking up my old no-name nylon string guitar when playing late at night at home after my daughters are asleep because the Guild is so loud it could wake them both up (and possibly the neighbors...).

You read that right! Any orders over $75 ship for free!*
