Rick Nielsen Signature 1959 Gibson Les Paul Standard Sunburst Signing Event

On Wednesday, March 2nd, 2016, Chicago Music Exchange had the pleasure of hosting Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee, Rick Nielsen, for an exclusive in-store event. The night was a celebration for the release of the brand new aged Gibson Custom Shop Collector's Choice Rick Nielsen 1959 Les Paul Standard Sunburst electric guitar. Only 50 of these instruments have been produced worldwide. Select guests had a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to meet Nielsen as he signed their new guitar.

The crowd was filled with collectors and fans alike. Ed McDonald, owner of Tundra Music, flew in from Toronto to celebrate with Nielsen. McDonald sold Rick his legendary 1959 Les Paul Burst, the same one that was used to replicate Rick's Custom Shop.

Also in attendance was Chicago's very own Doug Sohn, local celebrity and former owner of the legendary restaurant, Hot Doug's.

Bill Jacobs, owner of Piece Pizza swung by with fresh, delicious pizza to show support for Nielsen, who is co-owner of the Wicker Park favorite.

After mingling with the crowd, the always entertaining rockstar partook in a Q&A with Andrew Yonke, President of Chicago Music Exchange. He then signed all of the 50 guitars that will be distributed throughout the world.

The Rick Nielsen 1959 Les Paul Standard is being offered in a run of 50 Aged and Signed, 100 aged, and 150 Vintage Gloss. All versions of the guitar are rendered to True Historic specifications and are hand-crafted based on digital scans of Rick's original so that the neck shape and dish carve are precisely replicated.
