It’s that time of year again, and this year’s Lollapalooza lineup has got Chicago tweakin' like an 8-year old at Christmas! Festival-goers and artists alike have descended upon the city like a swarm of musical-locusts, prepping for the main festivities and numerous Lollapalooza after shows.
We at Chicago Music Exchange are thrilled to see some old friends, and excited to make new ones as well! If you’re braving the crowds this weekend, be sure to check out some of our store veterans that'll be playing:
Making their Lollapalooza debut, Nathaniel Ratliff & The Night Sweats will be shimmyin' up the Petrillo Bandshell Saturday at 3:45. A familiar face at Chicago Music Exchange, Mr. Rafeliff recently picked up an antique Martin Parlor guitar from our acoustic room. Nathaniel and company will be in rare form Saturday afternoon, so be sure to get there early!
Massachusetts natives Potty Mouth are no strangers to the Windy City. Their 90s influenced girl-grunge is a sound that resonates deep with the Chicago underground, conjuring influence from the likes of Veruca Salt and Liz Phair. Potty Mouth will be making their Lollapalooza premier this Saturday on the BMI stage at 2:10pm. Not a show you want to miss!

The Red Hot Chili Peppers are no stranger to Chicago. Whenever in town, guitarist Josh Klinghoffer is almost sure to pay Chicago Music Exchange a visit. Josh has taken home a ’59 Sunburst Strat, and most recently a killer Guild S-100 from our store. Josh is known to use multiple guitars, so try and spot one when Red Hot Chili Peppers play Saturday night at 8:30 on the Samsung Stage!
A regular at Chicago Music Exchange, Philadelphia native Kurt Vile and the Violators will be bringing their unique blend of Americana/folk rock to the Petrillo Bandshell Thursday night at 6:00pm. An offset-guitar enthusiast, Kurt picked up a 60s Sunburst Jaguar last time he paid us a visit. Catch the show tonight, and he just might be playing it!

Dallas Green of City and Colour made a quick appearance at the store just hours before his show on the Bud Light Stage. Dallas picked up a seriously-smokin’ Gibson ES-355 in a one-of-a-kind factory Gold Sparkle finish. No word on whether the 355 will be making an appearance tonight, but you’d better get there pronto to get a good seat!
*UPDATE - looks like our ES-355 made it on stage after all!
Stay safe, and Happy Paloozaling!
