Winter NAMM 2016 Recap

Chicago Music Exchange was in full force at the 2016 Winter NAMM Show in Anaheim, searching to find the latest and greatest musical innovations, classic recreations, and everything between. Here are some highlights:

Reverend Billy Corgan Signature BC1 guitar

It took two years, we're told, for Reverend founder Joe Naylor working with Smashing Pumpkins' Billy Corgan to complete the brand new Reverend Billy Corgan Signature BC1 electric guitar. The finished product is everything we expect from Reverend: classic and modern; bridges the gap between genres, very reasonably priced; extremely well built and high quality; and is available now for pre-order. 2015 Lothson LA Signature Solid Body in Cherry Sunburst

Matt's Pick

"My pick is the Lothson LA Signature. This is like taking a time machine back to Kalamazoo in 1959. This one has got one of the fattest necks i've ever played and I love it. The notes just jump out of the neck, and it has sustain for more than a few days. The BKP Mules are nice and sweet sounding too!"

An Interview with Oliver Ackermann of Death By Audio

Working at CME, you get to experience the purists looking for the very transparent overdrives and true to "vintage" tone, and while that's admirable, it's not me. Not even a little bit.

So, by the direction of friends, coworkers, and artists I love, I found Death By Audio. I started with the Fuzz War and fell in love. I began moving through their arsenal of oddities, checking the Echo Dream 2 (which if you haven't  - you totally should) and the Reverberation Machine
