Fuzz Pedals

Fuzz Pedals

Fuzz pedals are used to alter the audio signal of a guitar until the sound wave is almost square, creating a ‘fuzzy’ noise and adding many complex overtones. Fuzz pedals, also known as a ‘fuzz box’, are often used as an attempt to recreate the sound of an older worn out guitar amplifier. Fuzz pedals were made popular in the 1960s following their use by various artists including the Rolling Stones, Jimi Hendrix, Carlos Santana and The Beatles. A few popular fuzz pedals are the Electro-Harmonix Big Muff Pi, the ZVex Fat Fuzz Factory, and the MXR Blue Box Octave Fuzz.
