Description & Specs

The Squier® Contemporary Telecaster® RH brings modern features and bold aesthetics to an iconic Fender platform to satisfy today’s most discerning and daring players. At the heart of this guitar is a SQR™ rail humbucking bridge pickup and a Squier SQR™ Atomic™ humbucking neck pickup (RH = Rail humbucker, Humbucker), which offer a versatile range of massive genre-defying tones without hum. The roasted maple neck was chosen for its optimal tone and stability, and a sculpted heel design allows for improved access all the way to the 22nd fret. High-performance components round out the feature list and include a string-through-body hardtail bridge for ideal body resonance, and a set of sealed-gear tuning machines with split shafts for smooth tuning action and easy restringing. Eye-catching styling cues include stealthy black hardware and a sleek matching painted headstock with chrome logos for a premium look.

Rock Machine

First of all, Squier and Fender have been absolutely killing it lately. Not only can you get a great guitar under 500 bucks, you can find gems like this that you might even keep for a lifetime. The neck is so smooth and fast and easy to play. The roasted maple looks great and it smells like pancakes. The Shoreline Gold fit and finish is awesome. To me it looks like the kind of color combination you'd find on a new Jeep Rubicon or something. It reminds me of the desert. The thing that surprised me the most? How amazing these pickups are. Hot, high powered, turbo charged and thick. This guitar is a rock machine. I'm using it for AC/DC style classic rock, but you could easily use it for metal or even modern country. The rail humbucker in the bridge is my favorite. A hot knife through butter is what comes to mind. The belly cut and comfort is fantastic. I wish my Fender Tele was cut like that after playing this for a while. The only thing I didn't like is that they reversed the plate with the knobs and the switch. I have big hands and I get on it when I play, so I was hitting my knuckles on the knob consistently. I took it down to a shop and had them reverse the plate back to a normal Tele layout and now it's perfect for me. Chicago Music Exchange was fantastic from beginning to end. Probably the best big store in the world. There was two of these in stock and I had them pick the best one for me, do a setup, and change strings. They did the setup and shipped it the same day I ordered it. It came in great shape without a scratch and playing well out of the gate. I am not sure there is a better guitar for the price out there. I now have 3 Squiers: the contemporary Strat with hard tail in Sunset Metallic, this Shoreline Gold Tele and a J Mascis Jazzmaster to go along with my two Fenders. Buy it if you can find one of these. Nobody has them and people are waiting to buy them the minute they come available. Cheers!
