The BELLE STARR was designed to recreate these tones.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eNot a high-gain overdrive, the BELLE STARR is a low\/mid gain overdrive circuit that has the smooth and natural breakup that is characteristic in smaller, non-negative feedback amps. \u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eTo make the overdrive as natural-sounding and amp-like as possible, we incorporated a unique clipping circuit (the part of the circuit that distorts the signal) and features MOSFET transistors instead of traditional silicon diodes. When used in a clipping circuit, the MOSFET transistors produce a very smooth and amp-like overdrive.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eThe overdrive range on the BELLE STARR is so evenly spread out across the range of the GAIN control that it goes from absolutely clean to medium gain with no unusual jumps in the dynamic response. \u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eOver the 8 months that we spent dialing in the BELLE STARR, we have tried it with every variation of amp we could get our hands on. Just like a well-designed compressor should, the BLOSSOM alters the dynamics of the guitar signal and not the tone. A good compressor should be felt and not heard!\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eWhen more subtlety is desired from the compression circuit, we have included a BLEND control that allows the player to blend in their clean, unaffected signal back in with the compressed signal. With the GOLDEN BOY, you keep playing and use your foot (or MIDI) to adjust the gain for you!\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cb\u003eCLIPPING DIODE PRESETS\u003c\/b\u003e\u003cbr\u003eThe GOLDEN BOY allows for 4 different presets of clipping diodes which themselves drastically alter the tone and feel of the way the overdrive clips and distorts.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eTo select a clipping preset, press and hold the DRIVE footswitch for more than 1 second and the clipping program mode will become active. When in this mode, the DRIVE led will flash to indicate that you are in program mode. A quick tap on the DRIVE footswitch will cycle the clipping presets and you’ll be able to hear these presets change as you cycle through them, assuming that the drive circuit was active when the clipping program mode was entered. GAIN CYCLE takes the GAIN knob setting, which selects your maximum gain, and divides that level of gain into 4 equal parts. Say for instance you have your GAIN knob set at the maximum setting or in other words, 100% gain. Every time you press both footswitches simultaneously, the gain of the pedal will jump up 25% until you get to 100%.
