Founded by luthier Paul Reed Smith in 1985, PRS Guitars is a Maryland-based brand producing high-end, hand-made electric guitars known for their distinctive styling and high-performance features.
Early support from Carlos Santana helped the brand grow from one man making guitars in a haunted garret into an internationally-renowned fixture of the industry that now counts artists like John Mayer, Alex Lifeson and Mark Tremonti as birds of a feather in the PRS family.
If PRS’s core line of electric guitars already look like high-end, boutique instruments, that’s because they are. They may not be handmade in a haunted garret by Paul Reed Smith himself, but they are American-made in their Stevensville, Maryland facility, and it shows. Every inch of the contoured frame screams quality, but as enviable as the tops are on many PRS Core, SE, and S2 models they’re only just the beginning.
“Heirloom-quality.” That’s Private Stock. Made with the best, rarest, and most sought-after materials, PRS Private Stock guitars are one-off masterpieces to be passed down for generations.
We carefully sifted through stack after stack in PRS’s Wood Library to bring you a series of PRS core model that feature incredible combinations of some of the world’s finest tonewoods. They’re rare. They’re beautiful. And they’re only available at Chicago Music Exchange.
PRS's latest artist series collaboration with John Mayer resulted in something that was familiar, yet completely reimagined in a uniquely-PRS way. Using only top-notch components, and obsessing over every detail to innovate on this classic formula, PRS created something not only capable of handling Johns touring and studio demands, but something that feels immediately familiar to a wide range of players of all styles.
The S2 Series reimagines some of PRS’s core models to present an innovative line of newly-shaped, vintage-inspired guitars built to break molds–and barriers.
