Neck: Maple neck with a medium–large “c” profile, 1 5/8” wide nut, rosewood fretboard, 7.25” radius, and dot inlays
Pickups/Hardware: Kluson Deluxe tuners, two Jazzmaster pickups (rated at 8.4 kOhms in the neck and 8.4 k in the bridge), three-way pickup selector switch, volume and tone controls
Cosmetic Condition: If only guitars could talk! This Jazzmaster would certainly have some righteous stories. The body of this 1964 Fender is handsomely worn with lots of visible aging and play wear throughout. The pickguard has discolored with age and shrunken slightly. One of the pickguard screws is missing between the volume and tone controls. The finish has some heavy arm-wear on the bass-side bout. The edges of the top have lots of dents and wear. The bottom of the body has visible buckle wear and plenty of nicks, dents and other character marks. The neck of this guitar looks gorgeous and has been refinished with oil and wax. The headstock was also refinished but the Fender decal was preserved. The tuners have developed a nice patina and the headstock shows some edge wear. The fretboard has some heavy wear on the first and second frets on the G and B strings. This vintage Jazzmaster is a blast from the past with a style that stands the test of time!
Playability: The strings are nice and low, play great, and ring out clearly across the board. The frets are very small and worn.
Modifications/Repairs: The bridge pickup and main volume control pot have been replaced. The ground wire from the neck pickup has been lengthened with a piece of cloth coated wire. The finish on the back of the neck has been removed, The neck was refinished with oil or wax. Much of the finish on the headstock was also removed, but the decal was preserved. All that remains of the decal is the fender logo. The rest has flaked off. There is one pickguard screw missing between the volume and tone knobs. Because the pickguard has shank slightly, this screw can no longer grab into the wood.
