Modifications/Repairs: | The neck and body have been fully refinished. Kluson tuners have been installed. Inlays are not original (it is not clear whether the inlays, fingerboard, or entire neck were replaced). The body has been routed for a bridge pickup. Holes have been drilled for a pickup selector switch on the upper shoulder and an output jack on the lower bout. A metal strip has been installed to mask the hole for the original output jack on the side of the body. Bridge pickup, toggle switch, and top-mounted output jack have been installed. Pickguard has been modified to accommodate bridge pickup. Strap locks have been installed. Era-correct bridge from a different Gretsch model has been installed. |
Case Details: | Hardshell case |
Cosmetic Condition: | The guitar has a decent amount of play wear that is consistent with its age. The glossy finish has scratches and dings throughout. There are a few signs of case rash on the back of the neck and body. |
Serial Number: | 25720 |
Tech Notes: | Plays well with medium/low action and light neck relief. The truss rod is adjustable. The frets are tall and show some play wear (divots in the first few frets). The pot codes date to 1957. The serial number is visible on the original label inside of the f-hole but there is no reliable information on dating serial numbers from Gretsch guitars of this era. |
