Earthquaker Devices shakes up 2021 with a reverb for the ages. Touted as an “Octal Octave Reverberation Odyssey,” the new Astral Destiny stars a suite of fantastical features designed to remake the pedalboard essential into an immersive, time-transcending experience, sparkling with celestially-inspired spectacle, awash with ambient, ethereal excess. Or, to put it simply, this is the new big bang of reverb.

Earthquaker Devices Astral Destiny Modes
  • Abyss: Deep, cavernous reverb. No octave effect.
  • Shimmer: Sparkling reverb tail with supplemental upper octave.
  • Sub: Rumbling reverb tail with supplemental lower octave. 
  • Sub Shimmer: Reverb tail with supplemental upper and lower octaves.
  • Astral: Sub Shimmer plus regenerating tail. 
  • Ascend: Upward pitch bend.
  • Descend: Downward pitch bend.
  • Cosmos: Modified reverb tail with a regenerating fifth.

Or one of eight completely customizable presets. Whatever you choose, assignable expression/CV control allows you to adjust the Length, Depth, Rate, Tone, and Mix via the so-labeled knobs on the front of the unit, moving your tone from la la la to lasers in a parsec.

The unique Stretch function doubles your reverb length, holding the current settings while adding an adjustable pitch bend. But you may choose to put your destiny on hold in a different way. Buffered bypass switching lets you add a tail anytime, and two all-analog signal paths––one dry and one wet––bounce you from clean to dirty and back again.

The ‘68 Custom Pro Reverb takes its cues from the original 40-watt model, improving its portability and tonal flexibility by reducing the cabinet size and weight, moving to a single-channel format and single 12” speaker, and adding a middle tone control. At just 5 watts, the original Vibro Champ was famous for classic Fender tremolo, tube sparkle and killer grind at a reasonable level. The ’68 Custom Vibro Champ Reverb improves on this classic amp by adding hall-emulating DSP reverb and using a larger 10” speaker for increased low end. These additions make this little wonder perfect for rehearsal, home recording and even small gigs.

The Astral Destiny is a compact and powerful modulated octave reverb pedal that features 8 reverb modes with 8 editable presets, assignable expression control, tails for natural reverb decay when the effect is bypassed and a super cool stretch feature that doubles the length of the reverb while adding an adjustable pitch bending effect. 

Each Astral Destiny is built one at a time by a team of Los Angeles-based robots and a handful of real life humans in the occupied Erie territory presently known as Akron, Ohio.

8 celestial reverb modes:
  • Abyss: Huge reverb with no octave effect
  • Shimmer: Adds an upper octave to the reverb tail
  • Sub: Adds a lower octave to the reverb tail
  • Sub Shimmer: Adds an upper and lower octave to the reverb tail
  • Astral: Adds an upper and lower octave combined with a regenerating tail
  • Ascend: Upward pitch bending; best used on sustained notes and chords
