Yamaha | 2022 Revstar Guitars
The latest Revstar range features chambered bodies, lefty models, new switching options, and a swathe of new racing-inspired finishes
First launched in 2015, Yamaha’s Revstar line—inspired by the style and performance of 1960s café racer motorcycles—marked the Japanese brand’s first new electric guitar series in more than a decade. Now, Yamaha has a whole new lineup of Revstar guitars for 2022, available in three tiers. While each new 2022 Revstar model features a chambered body, the latest editions are available in new racing-inspired finishes, with new switching options, as well as in left-hand models.
What's New?
- Chambered bodies — Designed with Yamaha’s Acoustic Design process to sculpt tone and increase resonance, while reducing weight and optimizing balancing.
- Carbon Reinforcement — Standard and Professional models come with carbon-reinforced necks, while the Professional also features carbon reinforcement to the body for enhanced vibration transfer, tone shaping, and additional weight reduction.
- Left-hand Models — Now, for the first time since the Revstar series was initially debuted, the 2022 Revstar line’s Element and Standard tiers are available in left-handed versions, in both black and Swift Blue finishes.
- Initial Response Acceleration — In the top tier of the new 2022 lineup, Revstar Professional guitars receive Yamaha’s Initial Response Acceleration (I.R.A.) treatment process, in which specific vibrations are applied to release stresses in the guitar for a “played-in tone,” as well as increased volume and greater resonance.
More Revstar Features:
- Five-Way Switching — The 2022 Revstar Standard and Professional models provide five-way switching in which the second and fourth positions’ circuits slightly delay the opposite pickup, for a new take on classic “in-between” sounds.
- Dry Switch — On Revstar Element models, the push/pull switch activates a “Dry Switch” high-pass filter circuit, akin to the ones first introduced on the original 2015 Revstar series.
- Focus Switch — Standard and Professional models also come with a push/pull “Focus Switch” to activate a passive boost, darkening highs while increasing bass and mids, which mimics the effect of overwound pickups.
