Boutique Guitar Showcase 2022 at the Chicago Music Exchange!

Nine countries, 24 cities, and thousands and thousands of miles, but the Boutique Guitar Showcase finds its way back to the Chicago Music Exchange again! Catch the Chicago leg of its worldwide tour on Saturday, September 10th, when the mobile guitar convention stops by our beautiful Lincoln Avenue showroom to share and sell masterworks from some of the world’s finest boutique builders.

Curator Jamie Gale will be on-hand September 10th from 11 am to 3 pm for special viewings of the following American and international lutherie brands:

Tim Bram Guitars — Thinline Tribute

As with every instrument from Tim Bram Guitars, this Tim Bram Thinline Tribute Gold Top guitar was handmade in the luthier’s Maryland woodshop and features a completely hand-carved, graduated European spruce top and figured cherry back and sides, paired together to create a tight low end, with bright highs—plus, the Pete Biltof Charlie Christian Style Pickup offers a full range with a vibrant high end. 

Batson Custom — USA Torrefied Red Spruce/Curly Claro Walnut Natural

Designed by Corey Batson, himself, Batson’s artisanal, hand-crafted instruments featuring unique bracing patterns, patented tailpiece bridge systems, cantilevered necks, tops without soundholes, and unusually large side sound portals combined to allow his tops to vibrate more freely, creating a sonically superlative voice.

Tone Exploration | The Guitars of Bruce Springsteen

Released on September 30, 1982, Nebraska marked a radical departure for Bruce Springsteen. Recorded entirely alone on a four-track TEAC Portastudio in his Colts Neck, New Jersey bedroom, the album was never intended for release. Springsteen had planned to re-record the songs with the E Street Band, but the raw demos—haunting, intimate, and unvarnished—proved more powerful than any full-band attempt. In their imperfection, he found a truth he couldn’t recreate.
