FENDER CUSTOM SHOP MARAUDER
FENDER CUSTOM SHOP MARAUDER MASTER BUILT BY CARLOS LOPEZ
The fabled Fender Marauder, a guitar that never was, finally is, and it’s the best of a bunch of worlds. With rare reverence, Joel takes us through this brand new master built Carlos Lopez Fender Custom Shop model, detailing its significance as a lost legend, and how Carlos Lopez brought it back.
Long before Carlos Lopez was a Fender Master Builder, he knew what he wanted to do. Every day on his way into the Fender factory, he would walk the long hallway lined with display cases containing some of Fender’s most historically significant designs; guitars collectors would happily pay five or six figures for, hung alongside impossibly rare prototypes that never saw the light of day. Carlos fixated on the Fender Marauder.
Years of hard work and study later, the Marauder is back. Using his own authentic prototype and the original Type 2 schematic, Carlos was able to resurrect this rare offset piece by piece into a formidable design that, combined with the dual Curtis Novak Gold Foil single-coils, offers a tonal cross-section of the brand’s legendary catalog.
We’re happy to finally welcome this lost piece of Fender history into production and to introduce it as the next in what is sure to be the long and celebrated legacy of one of Fender’s finest young Master Builders.
