In the ‘50s and ‘60s, Leo Fender’s guitar and bass designs sent shockwaves through the musical landscape, giving players in emerging musical genres the tools needed to shape a new world of sound! The new Limited Edition Vintera II Road Worn Series pays homage to the look and feel of those original instruments, bringing their designs to a new generation of movers and shakers.

Each Limited Edition Vintera II Road Worn Guitar or Bass starts with an alder body and a Road Worn Nitrocellulose lacquer finish. These specific finishes recall the standard and custom-color finishes from the Pre-CBS Fender catalogue, all with light checking, gentle wear patterns, and a semi-gloss finish, for that “broken in” feeling that we love about vintage instruments! Of course, another perk of this nitro lacquer finish is that as the decades go on, each guitar and bass in this series will age similarly to how real vintage Fender Guitars and Basses have aged, picking up character from a lifetime of play!
Under the hood, period-correct, vintage-style pickups deliver the authentic tones that made each of these instruments iconic. Period-inspired neck profiles with 7.25” radius rosewood fingerboards also contribute to the vintage feel, while vintage-style bridges, tremolos (on the Stratocaster and Jazzmaster models), and tuning machines provide highly dependable performance.
Four Models, Decades of Tones
There are 4 instantly recognizable models in the Limited Edition Vintera II Road Worn Series, each with a distinct vintage-inspired characteristic:
These instruments aren’t a way of looking back, they’re a way of looking forward at the new musical revolution: one where Leo Fender’s designs continue to shape the musical landscape for generations to come! American manufacturers began making “artist editions” at least as far back as 1843, when C.F. Martin built the first ever X-braced Martin models for one of the most renowned soloists of the era, Madame Delores N. de Goñi. And although it’s not as often that we see de Goñi model come through Chicago Music Exchange's doors, we sometimes see a fair number of the earliest artist editions and signature models ever commercially produced—including the Gibson Nick Lucas and Roy Smeck models.
