Introducing | MarconiLAB
CME is One of The Only Places Where You Can Get Your Hands on MarconiLAB’s Cutting-Edge EGO Models!
Continuing an ongoing partnership with Chicago-based Lyon & Healy Corp.—a U.S. distributor of some of the finest examples of boutique Italian lutherie on the guitar market today—Chicago Music Exchange is proud to become the FIRST dealer to offer U.S.-based customers the forward-thinking, futuristic line of ergonomically designed EGO electric instruments from MarconiLAB!

Have Your First EGO-ic Electric Guitar Experience at CME!
Designed by David Torriani and Guido Brancalion, who launched the MarconiLAB website in 2011 after a decade of honing their craft, MarconiLAB EGO electric guitar models take the modular instrument design philosophy to a whole new level, offering various options to contemporary guitar players whose preferences extend to all aspects of playing, including a wide variety of tonewoods, pickup configurations, hardware, wiring/switching options—even down to the specific contour of the armrest on the lower bout.
Of course, it’s hard not to see a headless MarconiLAB EGO guitar hanging on the wall next to the others, nearly all of which hang by the headstock, since the EGO guitar models seem to levitate in thin air among all the others. With the help of their specialized hanger attachment, each EGO almost appears to be imbued with magic powers—and for a good reason: you wouldn’t believe all the things these guitars can do!
Customize Your Tone With Innovative MarconiLAB Technologies
If you ask Lyon & Healy CEO Massimo Dolce to freely associate the first word the MarconiLAB EGO models ought to evoke, the word “innovation” springs right to mind.
“These are the same instrument designers who developed Seymour Duncan’s HyperSwitch,” a technology that debuted this year at The NAMM Show 2023 under the Seymour Duncan brand name, which MarconiLAB developed for the EGO models before selling it to Seymour Duncan.
“There are so many configurations that a standard 5-way switch doesn’t have,” Dolce said, “but with the HyperSwitch, you can physically rewire your guitar and choose which pickups will be active in each switching position just by connecting to the HyperSwitch app.”
For example, say you have an HSH pickup configuration and you want to rewire the second position so that bridge and neck pickup are combined. Say that you want the middle switching position to also combine both bridge and neck pickups, but splitting the coils to use only the north coil of the bridge pickup combined with the humbucking neck pickup out of phase in parallel.
These are just a couple of examples of the kinds of settings you can access via the HyperSwitch technology developed by MarconiLAB, which continues to develop new innovative technologies for their EGO electric guitar line—like GRM neck pickups, and the EGO recessed floating trem system with MIDI-ready piezo electric bridge saddles available on select models.
Never Lose Track of Your EGO—Wherever You Roam!
Although EGO 6-string models have a full-scale, 25.5” neck, the headless design makes for notably more compact, travel-friendly dimensions for gigging guitarists who frequently travel with their instruments.
With this in mind, select MarconiLAB EGO guitars feature Apple Airtag and NFC Electronic ID anti-theft and tracking capabilities to provide traveling musicians with the added reassurance that they can know where their fully-customized guitar is located at all times.
“We don’t hear this very often, but every once in a while, we get a call in which someone tells us, ‘My guitar has been stolen’” Massimo Dolce said. “That’s when we had the idea of building the Airtag inside the guitar. There’s no way you can remove it unless you destroy the guitar. So, if they do lose their instrument, for whatever reason, they can know where it is.”
Chicago Music Exchange is proud to be one of the first dealers of MarconiLAB EGO electric guitars, so call CME, chat us online (or in the CME mobile app), or stop into our showroom today to have your first-ever EGO-ic electric guitar experience!
