Powers Electric
Chicago Music Exchange is proud to offer the debut release from Powers Electric, a new brand from master luthier Andy Powers, whose name you know from Taylor Guitars. The first model—the A-Type—is more than a guitar. It’s a reflection of Powers’ roots in San Diego, California: a blend of surfing, hot rods, skateboards, and the sunny spirit of Southern California.
“San Diego is the pot I was boiled in,” Powers said at the launch event. “That place, and those things I grew up doing, shaped this guitar.”
Each Powers Electric guitar is crafted in small batches, almost entirely in-house, with incredible attention to detail. From the split-radius Honduran rosewood fretboard that plays effortlessly across all registers, to the colorful surfboard resin knobs—each one unique—this guitar is built to be played, and admired.
This is not retro. It’s not a reissue. It’s not a tribute. It’s a modern electric guitar built with fresh ideas and an old soul—and we’re honored to be among the first to share it.
Shop the Powers Electric A-Type at Chicago Music Exchange and experience what’s next in guitar design, straight from one of the most respected luthiers in the world.
