At the heart of the Touchstone Series is its meticulously hand-voiced top, crafted with precision and care in the Lewiston, Maine workshop. Our dedication to quality ensures each note resonates with clarity, depth, and character—the hallmarks of the Bourgeois sound.
The Art of Hand-Voicing
The magic of the Touchstone Series comes from Dana’s renown system of hand-voicing. Over the last 50 years he has refined this old-world technique and is now recognized worldwide as a foremost authority on guitar-top voicing. Dana’s method of tap-tuning optimizes the latent musicality hidden within the fibers of the world’s finest tonewoods. On any given day you will find Dana and his team carefully sculpting and listening to every top and brace—working to maximize the sonic potential of each of his instruments.
After Touchstone tops are approved by Dana, they are vacuum sealed and shipped to Eastman’s workshop where a select group of Eastman’s finest luthiers, carefully trained in Bourgeois’ tonal philosophy and construction methodology integrate the tops into Dana’s designs, bringing each guitar to life.
