Description

The following specs were carefully collected and recorded by a skilled technician. For a more detailed description and questions regarding sound, feel, or cosmetic condition, please visit our Lincoln Avenue showroom or call to speak to one of our Used and Vintage experts.
Finish Details: Original
Body Material: Ash
Neck Material: Maple
Fingerboard Material: Maple
Neck Profile: medium, soft "V"
Neck Thickness (IN): 1st- .84" 12th- .97"
Fingerboard Radius: 7.25"
Nut Width: 1-5/8"
Scale Length: 25 1/2"
Electronics: The pickups and wiring are original, however the bridge pickup has been reowund and the wiring has been converted to the modern telecaster configuration. It has master volume and tone controls and the three-way switch selecting neck, both pickups, or bridge. The pot codes are covered by solder so no dates are available, but the pots are original.
Pickup Measurements: neck 9.1k ohms bridge 8.7k ohms
Hardware: Original hardware including ashtray cover. The guitar features a mix of philips and and flat head screws. This is common for this year as they were transitioning from flat head to philips at this time. One of the four screws securing the bridge to the body is broken off in the body and so the short remaining length of the original screw has been left in place, rather than attempting to extract and replace the screw (see pictures). This is not affecting playability and the bridge is fully secure to the body.
Weight: 7lbs 13oz
Modifications/Repairs: The guitar has been refretted. A bone nut has been installed. The bridge pickup has been rewound. The wiring has been converted to modern tele configuration although the components remain original.
Case Details: Original hardshell case. The switch on the middle latch of the case is missing so this middle latch is non-functional. The two outside latches are fully functional.
Cosmetic Condition: This guitar is in excellent condition for its age, showing play wear consistent with over 70 years of use. The finish on the back of the neck and much of the fingerboard has worn away naturally from decades of play, contributing to its vintage character and smooth feel. The metal hardware shows light tarnishing, typical for an instrument of this age.
Serial Number: 5308
Tech Notes: The guitar plays well with low action. The frets are narrow and tall with essentially no play wear. The neck pencil date reads TG 5-16-52. The neck pocked pencil date reads TG 5-19-52.
