The Gibson Custom 1957 Les Paul™ Reissue, Ultra Heavy Aged, Refin Burst, captures the magic, muscle, and mystique of the instrument that shaped the sound of modern music. Created as part of Gibson Custom’s Limited Edition Collection, a family of exclusive, small-batch instruments inspired by standout Made to Measure builds and the ingenuity of the Nashville Custom Shop team, this reissue brings together the essence of a true 50s Les Paul with a striking, stage-ready finish that sets it apart from anything that came before.

This model has been meticulously Ultra Heavy Aged by the artisans of the Murphy Lab, giving it the character, texture, and unmistakable personality of a well-loved original from the first Gibson Golden Age. The Ultra Heavy Aged nitrocellulose lacquer finish shows authentic lacquer checking and softened edges and offers the tactile feel of a long-cherished vintage instrument. Every mark, line, and accent is applied by hand, ensuring a uniquely convincing vintage appearance.

Asolid mahogany body topped with a carved maple cap delivers the classic Les Paul tonal foundation, with warmth, sustain, and definition. It is framed with single-ply top binding and uses traditional solidbody construction, with no weight relief. The mahogany neck features a 1950s Chunky D profile and is joined to the body with a long neck tenon, offering the substantial feel prized by 50s-era Les Paul players. It’s paired with a rosewood fretboard featuring cellulose trapezoid inlays, narrow/tall frets, a 12-inch radius, and a period correct nylon nut.

At the heart of this reissue are a pair of Custombucker Alnico 3 pickups with Double Classic White bobbins—no covers, pure attitude. This pickup set is celebrated for its airy top end, sweet midrange bloom, and dynamic responsiveness, echoing the tonal character of the earliest Patent Applied For—era humbuckers™. From warm cleans to growling overdrive, these Custombuckers emphasize nuance and musicality, and are paired with two volume and two tone controls and a three-way toggle switch.

The hardware includes an ABR 1 Tune O Matic™ bridge, a Stop Bar tailpiece, Kluson® Deluxe tuners, cream plastics, and heavy aged nickel-plated components aged to match the guitar’s aesthetic. Each instrument includes a Certificate of Authenticity and a Lifton™ reissue hardshell case.
