Plus, Taylor’s ES2 electronics provide ample tonal control and responsiveness.
200 Series—Sitka/Rosewood
Taylor’s 200 series is crafted with solid tops for optimal projection, clarity, and tonal balance—so, whether you’re a new player on the hunt for inspiration from a new instrument, or an experienced guitarist looking for an accessible pro-level tool, a Taylor 200 series will cover just about any application. The solid Sitka spruce top on each of these 200 series guitars generates a punchy, bold voice with clear projection and power—with a dash of warmth and sparkle from the layered rosewood back and sides, adding a beloved acoustic guitar aesthetic in a durable, affordable package.
Dreadnought
Taylor’s most traditional body design has been continuously refined over the years to create a clearer, more balanced sound to go with its ultra-playable neck. Retaining a traditional X-bracing framework, Taylor’s Dreadnought body shape provides a robust “modern vintage” voice with low-end power, a snappy midrange, and punchy trebles, for a traditional look and sound that responds especially well to flatpicking and a strong attack.
Q: Does a cutaway diminish a guitar’s tonal output?
A: Not in a discernible way. We recommend you decide based on whether you want that extra upper-fretboard range; or, if you simply have an aesthetic preference—either for a more traditional, symmetrical look of a non-cutaway, or in favor of the sleek, more modern contouring that the cutaway offers.
