Description

The Delay Llama XTREME is a three-BBD analog delay that pairs 800 ms of warm repeats with presets, expression control and four adventurous trail effects. It moves effortlessly from classic delay sounds to animated pitch, modulation and rhythmic textures while keeping a clear, performance-friendly layout.

Tap tempo, three subdivisions, HOLD, kill-dry, selectable trails or true bypass and four onboard presets cover the essentials. Vibrato, Tape-Age, Random and Pitch-Shift XTREME modes open a deeper creative layer, while external control inputs support delay-time expression or CV, remote tap tempo and direct remote preset selection.

Core analog delay
Three 3205 BBD chips provide up to 800 ms of delay. Time, Repeats and Level controls cover the main delay sound, with eighth-note, quarter-note and dotted-eighth subdivisions.

Four XTREME modes

  • Vibrato adds sine-wave modulation with adjustable depth and speed.
  • Tape-Age creates random, worn-tape-style pitch variation.
  • Random changes delay time at fixed intervals for abrupt pitch and rhythmic shifts.
  • Pitch-Shift offers five interval pairs and five playback patterns, including a five-mode sequencer.

Four presets
Cycle between manual mode and four preset slots with the middle footswitch. Presets store time, repeats, level, subdivision, XTREME mode settings and XTREME on/off state. Factory examples are
included for all four XTREME modes.

Performance control

  • Tap the right footswitch at least twice to set tempo; hold it for oscillation. A prolonged press on
    the middle footswitch turns the selected XTREME mode on or off.
  • The TRLS switch selects buffered trails or true bypass; KD activates kill-dry operation.

External control

  • DT accepts a passive 10 kΩ expression pedal for delay time, or 0-5V CV when the internal DIP
    switches are set to CV mode.
  • PS accepts a TRS preset controller. TAP accepts a normally-open TS momentary remote switch. The optional CTRL BOX provides direct access to presets and tap/HOLD.

Internal adjustment
A multi-turn trimmer sets the maximum repeat count. A second trimmer sets maximum trails decay in buffered bypass.
