Hand-built Baritones & Basses From Renowned Tuscan Luthier Bruno Bacci!
Aimed at inspiring musicians to broaden their musical and creative horizons, Bacci baritone guitars and basses are hand-crafted in Tuscany by skilled artisans. Each guitar is expertly assembled by luthier Bruno Bacci, who adjusts the tension and intonation to ensure maximum vibration and sound definition before hand-finishing each instrument, making every Bacci instrument truly one-of-a-kind!
After getting our own hands on a Bacci Leonardo Funk Machine, Chicago Music Exchange met up with Bruno Bacci and Mark Lettieri at The NAMM Show 2022. Now, as a result of our growing partnership with the luthier, CME is proud to be the ONLY destination for Bacci Guitars in the United States!
Handmade in the Heart of Tuscany
With a diverse range of expertise developed while working in a variety of professional fields, both in Italy and abroad, early on in his career—from metallurgy to marketing, carpentry, and graphic design—luthier Bruno Bacci brought a wide set of skills and a unique perspective to his passion for creating musical instruments to become a master of his craft.
After years of repairing instruments and setting up countless guitars and basses for professional musicians, Bacci found his center of gravity by starting with the voice of the wood, then working towards creating what he calls a “harmonic chorus” among all the parts of his instruments. Naturally, he began to apply his knowledge to creating musical instruments that integrate his artistic sensibilities and design skills, so that all aspects of Bacci baritone guitars and basses have been given careful consideration, with attention to every detail.
Leonardo Funk Machine
If you’ve heard Mark Lettieri, Cory Wong, and their uber-funky joint endeavor, The Fearless Flyers, then you’ve undoubtedly heard this guitar in action!
The Leonardo Funk Machine Dual Output is the result of a study to maximize the potential of baritone guitars in contemporary music. Created to inspire unconventional tones and creativity, the Leonardo offers baritone players both comfort and playability, plus an innovative second output, dedicated to the bass pickup and positioned under the baritone’s three bass strings for a sound that’s richer and deeper, opening up new ideas and playing techniques.

Amrita IV Woodworm
For Bruno Bacci, a lover of Tuscan woodworking art, there is a very strong connection between the porous alder body of the Amrita IV and its percussive, warm, and airy sound. Crafted from an apparently solid piece of wood, if you look closely at its alder body, you’ll see that it has tiny tonal chambers made by the insect larvae of woodboring beetle, which give the Amrita IV a punchy, airy sound that has made bassists like Michael League—composer, producer, and founder of Snarky Puppy—fall in love with it.

Tone Exploration | The Guitars of Bruce Springsteen
Released on September 30, 1982, Nebraska marked a radical departure for Bruce Springsteen. Recorded entirely alone on a four-track TEAC Portastudio in his Colts Neck, New Jersey bedroom, the album was never intended for release. Springsteen had planned to re-record the songs with the E Street Band, but the raw demos—haunting, intimate, and unvarnished—proved more powerful than any full-band attempt. In their imperfection, he found a truth he couldn’t recreate.
