Description

Heavy Aged character with unmistakable Custom style

The Gibson Custom 1968 Les Paul™ Custom Reissue, Heavy Aged, Olive Drab Top brings together a defining moment in electric guitar history with the imagination and craft of the Gibson Custom Shop. Part of the Limited Edition Collection, this instrument reflects years of Made to Measure inspiration and the vision of the Nashville artisans who continue to push the Les Paul legacy forward. Its Heavy Aged finish from the artisans of the Murphy Lab gives it the character, feel, and vibe of a road-tested veteran from Gibson’s first Golden Age, with every detail crafted to strike the perfect balance between history and individuality.

The body pairs a solid mahogany back with a carved maple top, producing the rich midrange and singing sustain that the late 60s Les Paul Custom became known for. Multi-ply binding on the top and back frames its silhouette with unmistakable Custom-level elegance, while the Olive Drab finish makes a bold, unexpected statement. The Heavy Aged nitrocellulose lacquer adds tactile depth, allowing the instrument to respond like an heirloom that has already lived a lifetime of music.

The Authentic 1968 neck profile captures the feel of the era with remarkable accuracy, anchored by a long neck tenon for exceptional resonance and stability. An ebony fretboard with single ply binding, block inlays, reissue medium jumbo frets, and a 12-inch radius provides both smooth playability and the authoritative touch expected from a Custom. The nylon nut is period correct, adding to the guitar’s distinctive response and articulation.

A pair of T-Type humbucker™ pickups delivers clarity, bite, and the articulate edge associated with the late 60s. These pickups offer open, dynamic character with tight low end and crystalline highs, equally suited for expressive clean tones and muscular overdrive. Two volume controls, two tone controls, and a three-way toggle provide familiar control versatility, maintaining the format that has defined the Les Paul Custom for generations.

Nickel hardware and black plastics create a purposeful contrast against the Olive Drab finish. The ABR 1 Tune O Matic™ bridge, Stop Bar tailpiece, and Kluson® Waffleback® tuners deliver classic reliability. The headstock features mother-of-pearl inlays for both the Gibson logo and the Custom split diamond, reinforcing the guitar’s unmistakable identity.

A 1968 Les Paul Custom Reissue hardshell case and a Certificate of Authenticity complete the package. With its historic roots, bold aesthetics, and meticulous craftsmanship, this Limited Edition model stands as a tribute to one of the most visually striking and sonically compelling eras in Les Paul history.
