| Case Details: | Soft shell case. The case includes a print out of a photo of a country quartet, including H.W. Williams who is believed to be the original owner of this guitar. |
| Cosmetic Condition: | This vintage Martin guitar has aged well and is in good condition. The finish is glossy with scuffs, small dings, and finish wear one would expect of a guitar its age. The top has the imprints of writing on the bass side upper bout that read "1888 HW Williams." Some repaired cracks are visible on the top and back; these are structurally stable and will not affect playability. The volute and back of the headstock shows some superficial pitting in the finish. The metal hardware is well tarnished with age. |
| Tech Notes: | The guitar plays well with low action and optimal neck relief. The frets are medium with light play wear. The body dimensions categorize the body as a size 1, and the embossed "C.F. Martin, New York" on the back of the headstock and stamped "C.F. Martin & Co, New York" on the neck block and center backstrip place the guitar within 1867-1897. The appointments place the guitar roughly in the 1890s. |
