Finish Details: Original
Body Material: Maple
Body Details: Arched maple back and sides with arched spruce top. The back appears to have been removed and reglued at one point, and the binding has been reglued. Additional back and top separations have been reglued as well. There is a large repaired crack on the side of the treble bout, which is reinforced with internal cleats.
Neck Material: Mahogany
Fingerboard Material: Brazilian Rosewood
Neck Profile: "V" profile
Neck Thickness (IN): 1.05" (1st fret), 1.19" (10th fret)

Neck Details: Mahogany neck with bound ebony fretboard, dot inlays, and non-adjustable neck reinforcement. The neck has been reset.
Electronics: Original Charlie Christian style neck pickup and wiring harness, with master volume and tone controls. The control pots pre-date standardized date codes.

Hardware: Original aside from a replaced tailpiece. There are imprints on the back of the headstock from previously installed replacement tuners.

Cosmetic Condition: This vintage Recording King guitar shows plenty of authentic aging, with chips, scratches, and various repairs on the original finish. There are numerous repaired back, sides, and top separations, and a large repaired crack on the side of treble bout. The back of the neck is nicely worn and comfortable.
Serial Number: RW-82
Tech Notes: The guitar plays well with low action and optimal neck relief; the narrow frets are low with light play wear. The RW serial number indicates the guitar was built by Gibson for Montgomery Ward; this and the construction appointments dates it to between 1937 and summer 1940.
