Shine On, Diamond!
Originally begun as a hobby of PolyBlend Systems founder Mike Knappe, who holds multiple patents in the fields of signal processing algorithms and psychoacoustics, Diamond Pedals launched in 2003.

Bringing its founder’s formidable expertise to the effects table, within just a few years, Diamond rocked the guitar effects world with the debut of its Memory Lane—the world’s first all-analog tap-tempo delay—growing the brand’s reputation and cachet among guitarists, especially with early adopters like U2’s The Edge, Johnny Marr (The Smiths), and Ed O’Brien (Radiohead).

Blending analog companding, anti-aliasing|reconstruction filters with a bucket brigade style delay line, we have immaculately captured the ethereal essence of the original big-box Memory Lane using Diamond’s innovative digital Bucket Brigade Delay technology (dBBD). Basically what we’re saying is, you get all the goodness of the original Memory Lane in a smaller footprint, over double the delay time, extended frequency response, higher SNR, and at a fraction of the current draw.

This innovative progression of the Memory Lane is defined by 3 distinct delay lines to offer modern or vintage sounds.

Advanced Features

  • GEEZER MODE: The Memory Lane has to have its classic operating mode. No frills, pure tone. GEEZER mode disables the secondary footswitch functions for those-seeking maximum simplicity. Hold the TAP|MODE toggle switch down during the entire LED power-up sequence to turn GEEZER mode on or off.
  • TRAILS MODE: In TRAILS mode, the delayed signal will trail off according to the FEEDBACK knob when the effect is bypassed. In non-trails mode, the delay will immediately kill the delayed signal when the effect is bypassed.

Hold the TAP|MODE toggle switch up during the entire LED power-up sequence to turn TRAILS mode on or off.

MOMENTARY | LATCHING MODE: the MODULATION and DOUBLER can operate in either:

1). Momentary |only while its footswitch is held down
2). Latching |toggled on and off when its footswitch is held down

Hold down the ON|MOD or TAP|DBL footswitch during the entire LED power-up sequence to change its respective operation.

All of our research and development has culminated into a unique sonic signature that can only be described as distinctly Memory Lane.

Diamond Pedals Comp/EQ Pedal

$239.00

There isn’t a compressor that’s more sought after than Diamond’s yellow box. This next-gen compressor maintains the classic circuit architecture while increasing range and functionality. The new EQ section allows you to sculpt your tone in the same box that squashes it (that’s a good thing). Furthermore, the tilt switch allows you to go from the signature ultra-snappy Diamond comp style all the way to softer transparent compression.

Main Features

  • Naturally smooth optical compression from a custom US-made Opto-Isolator
  • Mid boost and cut
  • Switchable Tilt EQ section
  • Wide-ranging compression control and attack switch with LED indicator
  • Top-mounted jacks and soft touch relay switching
  • Burr Brown Integrated circuits

What a buzzword “compression” is. But as soon as you slap one into your chain, you can never go back. Applicable in almost every situation, compression is the glue that keeps your tone tight and in the pocket. While the original Diamond Compressor was a formidable pedal, we can confidently say that this next-generation is the best version of the Diamond Compressor yet.

We are serious when we say this pedal will always be on. Whether you’re looking for the snappiest compression to compliment your intricate funk leads, or soft transparent style compression to just add that perfect final touch to your tone, the Diamond Comp/EQ can do it all. So here’s how to use your new “always-on” pedal.

Place the Comp/EQ at the very beginning of your signal chain for a traditional compression effect or place it at the very end of the chain to act as a limiter. Need a boost? Place the Comp/EQ behind your drives and fuzzes to with the Comp set low to send your leads soaring!

But, while Diamond had become a staple among professional musicians’ pedalboards over nearly two decades of Diamond pedal production, a global pandemic forced the closure of PolyBlend Systems.

And, just like that, Diamond favorites like the Memory Lane Jr. delay, J-Drive overdrive, and Compressor nearly came to be counted among defunct pedal brands of yesteryear—that is, until SolidGoldFX founder Greg Djerrahian heard the news and swooped in to help revive the Diamond pedals lineup and embarked on an exciting new venture with a pedal brand after his own heart!

To learn more about how the SolidGoldFX founder got involved w/ Diamond, and where he plans to go with the brand, read CME’s interview with Greg Djerrahian below!

Diamond Drive
Pacific Peach Diamond Memory Lane

CME: Before acquiring the brand, what was your experience w/ Diamond Pedals?
SGFX: My history with Diamond started when I was first starting to build the brand for SolidGoldFX. A buddy of mine had given me a Diamond J-Drive MKIII as a gift. That quickly became the standard of what I wanted to achieve, in terms of the quality of a pedal that I wanted to build.

CME: How did SolidGoldFX become involved w/ the Diamond relaunch?
SGFX: At the time, someone who worked for SolidGoldFX heard a rumor that Diamond was closing. This was during the pandemic when other businesses were closing down, and we couldn’t believe it. But, my next reaction was to say, “Let’s talk to somebody.” Because we can basically build everything here.

At SolidGoldFX we build everything ourselves. We have all of our equipment, from CNC machines to powder coating, UV printer, and PCB assembly machines—we are fully equipped. Not knowing the mechanics of their company, my initial reaction was to see if we could offer a contract manufacturing service. But, as we got a little bit deeper, the founder and the owner asked if we’d be interested in buying the intellectual property and keeping the Diamond legacy going.

It was an incredible opportunity for us—as well as for me, personally—going back to when I first started out having been inspired by that early Diamond J-Drive, to one day be buying the Diamond—it was beyond cool!

CME: What can fans of the original Diamond designs expect from the new generation?
SGFX: For the initial lineup, we’ve gone to the smaller footprint and essentially reworked all the original circuits; each new Diamond pedal has as much—if not more—functionality as the originals. It’s all the same Diamond DNA, where the core circuits haven’t changed but everything has received a modern update.

With the new pedal lineup, everything has top jacks, soft-touch switching, and a layout inspired by the Diamond Fireburst V2. We spent over a year and a half going through all of the pedals and schematics with a fine-toothed comb, scrutinized every part that has gone into production, and obsessed over every feature we’ve included.

CME: Who is the new series of Diamond pedals made for?
SGFX: With SolidGoldFX, our aim is to be more creative with what we design and build, and to push what you can do with the pedal without just making another fuzz. We want to push the boundaries a little bit more and get a little bit more colorful.

The goal with Diamond is to be just a little bit more restrained and give players exactly what they need. It’s a player’s pedal—it’s not necessarily as soundscape-ish, or ambient, or whatever it may be—just dialed in. In either case, our ultimate goal is to create pedals that stand out and inspire, and to build something we can be proud of.

Soaked to the bone in legendary Diamond DNA, the new generation Diamond Drive is built on a foundation of signature drive and EQ soundblocks. Distilling the most desirable and functional elements from the almighty J-Drive, Blaze, and Fireburst pedals, the Diamond Drive combines a warm and wide-ranging overdrive built around a Premium Sound Burr-Brown Op-amp with a dual band, post-gain active EQ.

Main Features

  • Original J-Drive Style Gain Circuit with Burr Brown Integrated Circuit
  • Fireburst Inspired Dual Band Active Post-gain Baxandall EQ
  • Selectable warm switch for soft treble shelving filter
  • Soft-touch, True Bypass switching and top-mounted jacks
  • Made in Montreal, Canada.
  • Powered by 9-18V DC PSU
  • Center negative tip 2.1 mm barrel jack
  • Current Draw: 17mA

The new Diamond Drive was designed to nail the most demanding sessions. The Warm toggle will tame an overly bright amp or give your tone just the right amount of cream, while the wide-ranging Bass, Trebble, and Drive controls will deliver anything from a touch of hair to amp-sizzling overdrive. Sculpt your driven tones to perfection.

Housed in a compact enclosure with top jacks, 9-18V DC operation and soft-touch relay based true bypass switching system, the Diamond Drive might finally be the last overdrive you’ll need.
