Introducing | Voltage Cable Co.
It all started with a single cable—and a single color: Surf Green.
Back in 2018, Voltage Cable Co. founder Thomas Welladsen launched what was called Voltage MI, a boutique Australian distribution company aimed at getting trendy U.S. brands like Souldier Straps, Horizon Devices, and 3 Monkeys Solderless into the hands of musicians in Down Under. But it wasn’t long before Voltage took a sharp turn into something bigger.
With hands-on experience from time spent working in the local guitar shop and being around valve amp repairs, mods, Thomas began sourcing raw materials to produce a much-needed high-quality coil guitar cable that not only looked great but held up gig after gig.
First up? The now-iconic Surf Green coil. The response from local players was instant—and electric. That one cable grew into a color line, which grew into a brand.
The Voltage Vintage Coil v2—Now at Chicago Music Exchange!
By 2021, things had officially outgrown the Voltage MI umbrella. The brand spun off, social channels launched, and Voltage Cable Co. was born. With new packaging, new product lines, and an artist roster that spans from prolific bands like LA LOM, Danny Worsnop, Adam & Sam from YUNGBLUD, John Bollinger to Grace Bowers, and last but not least Jedd Hughes. Voltage was officially on the global map.
It wasn’t just the groovy looks that put Voltage Cable Co. on the map. Things got too busy for Thomas to make cables on his own, so he went back to his roots for help. Together with longtime amigo and mentor Pete Reynolds (old boss at guitar store and Valve Amp Guru ), they streamlined the cable manufacturing process and, whilst doing this, they co-invented ISO-COAT®—a new, now-patented anti-corrosion hermetic seal that protects and strengthens solder terminations, one of the most common failure points in instrument cables.
Every Voltage Vintage Coil® cable now comes equipped with this proprietary durability layer, designed to eliminate sonic degradation and extend real-world reliability far beyond typical warranty claims.
And now, that innovation is officially recognized: ISO-COAT® has been granted a Standard Australian Patent (No. 2024204464), with international patent protection pending. That makes Voltage Cable Co. the first and only brand in the world to offer this level of instrument cable protection.
CME Exclusive Color: Chicago Cream

We’re proud to offer CME Chicago Cream, a custom colorway designed in collaboration with Voltage and exclusive to Chicago Music Exchange. It’s clean. It’s creamy. And it’s one of the most asked-about colors in the Voltage lineup, according to Thomas!
“The CME Chicago Cream is by far the color we get asked about the most,” says Thomas.“Happy I got that going with Dan!”
From the first Surf Green coil to patented ISO-COAT® tech, Voltage Cable Co. is reinventing what a “vintage-style” guitar cable can be—and backing it with real innovation and intention. Whether you’re buying your first coil or replacing yet another failed
