Meet The New Taylor Guitars

AD27e Flametop

Headlining the new batch of Taylor guitars is the gorgeous AD27e Flametop, a Grand Pacific dreadnought featuring back, sides and top of solid Big Leaf maple. With V-Class bracing inside to add more warmth and body to the maple sound, the AD27e Flametop yields a warm, chunky, earthy sound unlike anything you’ve ever heard from Taylor before.

Maple / Spruce GT 611e LTD

The GT 611e LTD sports a dazzling aesthetic profile that reflects its tonal sparkle. This limited-edition model features maple back and sides paired with a spruce top, with a gorgeous Antique Blonde finish and striking Mission inlays that make a statement under the spotlight.

Just like the debut of the Grand Pacific body style revealed a different flavor of Taylor sound — warm and seasoned, with notes that blend smoothly together — the new AD27e Flametop from the American Dream Series leans even farther away from the sound often associated with Taylor. The guitar features a figured maple top, solid maple back sides, and a maple neck, but forget any association of brightness you might have with maple guitars. Between the GP body, maple top, and V-Class bracing, master builder Andy Powers has shaped this guitar’s voice into an earthy, midrange-focused sound. By design, the guitar produces fewer overtones, giving it a dry, more muted, slightly mellower sonic texture that will sound right at home in Americana circles and make a great strummer for chunky acoustic rhythm work. Visually, the guitar channels the gritty character of a worn in pair of boots or jeans with a dusky Woodsmoke finish, shaded edgeburst and satin sheen. Like other American Dream models, the Flametop features chamfered body edges, 4mm dot inlays in Italian acrylic, and onboard ES2 electronics (also available without electronics). The guitar ships in a Taylor AeroCase.

The growing appeal of the Taylor GT has spurred this tonewood pairing of figured maple and spruce. In the same way that the larger Grand Orchestra’s body curves inspired the design of the scaled-down GT shape, the striking aesthetic of the 618e was embraced again here. Artful touches include antique blonde color shading, which accentuates the figured maple back and sides and adds vintage flair to the spruce top, while Mission inlays in mother-of-pearl and ivoroid visually pop against the ebony fretboard and peghead overlay. Beyond the inviting proportions of the GT, C-Class bracing gives the small body surprising volume and low-end depth, and with the maple/spruce pairing, this guitar’s clarity will make it a secret weapon for recording and playing live. Other appointments include maple body (and soundhole) binding with black/koa/ivoroid top edge trim, a paua rosette with matching trim, a dark-stained maple pickguard, ebony bridge pins with abalone dots, a full-gloss body and Taylor Mini nickel tuners. The GT 611e LTD features onboard ES2 electronics and comes with a Taylor AeroCase.

The American Dream Series was created at the intersection of solid-wood tone, American craftsmanship, playability and great value. The new Grand Concert AD22e fits the bill, a fresh entry that offers players a more compact feel and a different acoustic flavor compared to the Grand Pacific models in the series. Solid sapele for the back and sides matches up with a mahogany top, generating a bold, punchy midrange with pleasing warmth and a woody sound that suits the guitar’s rootsy vibe. Inside, V-Class bracing dials up the response of this smaller-bodied guitar, adding volume and sustain and drawing out the essential character of the sapele/mahogany tonewood combination. The 24-7/8” scale length provides a relaxed, slinky feel for the fretting hand, while chamfered body edges and the always-comfortable Taylor Neck make the AD22e feel accommodating for all types of players. This noncutaway model is sparingly appointed to maintain its workmanlike aesthetic and accessible price point, with black top purfling, a single-ring rosette, 4mm dot fretboard inlays in Italian acrylic and a thin matte finish that preserves the natural feel of the wood. It ships with built-in ES2 electronics and a brown AeroCase, which provides reliable protection at one-third the weight of a traditional hardshell case.

GTe Blacktop: Walnut + Spruce

Taylor’s roster of compact GT guitars expands with the GTe Blacktop, which features solid walnut back and sides with a spruce top. Expect a tone profile with much of the midrange boldness and focus you’d expect from mahogany, along with a rich low end that blooms as you play the guitar over time.
