Labor of Love: Nalani & Sarina

Wondertwin powers activated! Nalani & Sarina stopped in to shop some Gibson Acoustics and treated us to their tune, "Pretty Lies." Only 21 years of age, the twins started as kids learning classical piano and then eventually teaching themselves guitar. They started writing songs at 15 and performed in clubs along the northeast before deciding to graduate high school early. Pursuing music ever since. Learn what inspires them and more in this episode of Labor of Love!

How did the making of music become your life? How did you get your start?
We grew up with music around us constantly so we always knew it was going to be part of our lives in some form. We started out at a young age on classical piano and then eventually teaching ourselves guitar. We started writing songs at 15 and performed in clubs along the northeast before deciding to graduate high school early. We have been pursuing music ever since.

Who were your major influences? What guides your playing style?
Stax recording artists (Sam and Dave, Otis Redding), Stevie Wonder, and all the classic rock and soul bands.

What's your rig? First guitar? Current? Any gear you can't live without?
Our first real guitars were acoustic Breedloves. Currently we have acoustic D’Angelicos (although the Gibson’s in the video were pretty incredible!!), and for electrics we have a left-handed black Gretsch, right-handed red Fender Mustang, and custom Barrett Guitars with Lindy Fralin pickups, as well as a lefty 12-string custom Barrett. We use a Fender Blues Junior IV and a Vox AC10. Fear we can’t live without is the H20 pedal and the Tube Screamer.

What do you or the band have coming up? Albums? Tours?
We are currently on the Circle Tour supporting our full length album, The Circle released through AWAL/Kobalt Music.
