Lance Lopez Does Some Bluesy Riffin'
We invited our pal, super blues shredder extraordinaire Lance Lopez, in to check out some of our Gibson Custom Shop beauties! The Texas six-string legend recently released his long-awaited new solo album, ‘Tell The Truth.' We dig it, and you should definitely check it out .
While playing one of our Gibson Custom Shop Explorers, Lance exclaimed, "I've got an Explorer, not like this though [laughs]. Mine is definitely not like this. I've got one of those 120 Explorers with a Banner. It was a USA guitar. It was a good one though. It was a really good guitar. This one is pretty incredible."
Lance Lopez’s voice lets you know he’s been there and done it! He has definitely lived the life he sings about in his songs, with his smokey tenor even more gravely and intense than on prior albums. Raised by the music of Bobby “Blue” Bland, Buddy Miles, Johnny Taylor, and Lucky Peterson, Lance went pro at only 14, gigging in clubs around New Orleans. He partnered with soul legend Johnny Taylor at only 17, later moving on to become the leader of Lucky Peterson’s band, and eventually joining the Buddy Miles Express. He’s put in the hard time, road-dogging and gigging. You can feel every bit of it on his new record!
Lance also had a pretty damn good time rippin' it up on one of our used Gibson RD Standards. Lastly, we put one of our CME Spec Gibson Custom Shop ES-335s in Lance's hands and, well, watch the video above and let us know what you think!
The fabled Fender Marauder, a guitar that never was, finally is, and it’s the best of a bunch of worlds.
