The Marshall Studio Range

More compact. Same impact.

VINTAGE VIBE, MODERNIZED.

We're going to be taking a look at two of Marshall's most iconic amplifiers that paved the way for a countless number of guitar players in the 60's and 70's; the SV20H, which is based off of the classic 1959SLP and the SC20H, which is based off of one of Marshall's most successful amps, the JCM800 2203.

The SV20H

Based off of the 1959SLP, the SV20H anticipates inspiring guitarists for generations to come. This 20W recreation is much more portable, and is even switchable to a 5W output for those considerate rockers out there. Four different inputs allow the player to blend the channels together, and create a truly unique tone. A DI output also allows players to get the full tonality from their amp over long distances in a live setting.

The SV20H atop the SC20H, ready to make a statement.

Perfect for home or studio use, the SV20H & SV212 combo is a reimagined classic rock rig that puts the tone of rock's greatest heroes in the hands of the everyman.

The SCH20H

The Marshall JCM800 2203 needs no introduction. You may not recognize it's model name, but you may recognize the "JCM 800 Lead Series" title on the front panel of the amp, and you SHOULD recognize its tone as one of the beacons of classic rock.

The SC20H makes that arena-shaking tone accessible to you in your home or studio, and won't give your neighbors a free concert they didn't ask for. The SC20H replicates the tones from the original 100W JCM800 2203, from rich, full, and clean, to searing and heavily distorted, and puts them into a compact, 20W package, which is switchable to a 5W output in case you have some extra pesky neighbors, or don't want to sacrifice your hearing for tone . In modernist tradition, the SC20H adds a dedicated FX loop, and a DI out for expanded studio and tone-shaping capabilities.

The CME Collection - Gibson Custom Tom Murphy Aged & Painted Guitars

While the guitars from the Murphy Labs at Gibson Custom Shop now showcase Tom Murphy’s work in developing the painting and aging techniques Gibson Guitars uses to replicate the finishes on its limited-run historic models, Murphy’s contributions to the Custom Shop started long before the establishment of Murphy Labs, going all the way back to the first years we opened up shop! Now, in addition to Chicago Music Exchange's existing inventory of some of the best Murphy Labs guitars Gibson has to offer, The CME Collection gives us a look back at a tradition of excellence that Tom Murphy helped begin at the Gibson Custom Shop, including models that have been aged and painted by the man, himself!

The CME Collection | Collector's Choice Gibson Models

Taking cues from the “Inspired By” series of extremely limited Gibson Custom Shop runs begun in 2005, the Collector’s Choice series launched in 2010 continued to recreated more than 40 models until 2017, producing extremely limited runs or instruments virtually indistinguishable from their vintage antecedents—all of which have come to be recognized among collector’s as the crème de la crème of the vintage guitar world! While we may have seen a number of Collector’s Choice models come through Chicago Music Exchange over the years Gibson the series was in production, it’s safe to say we’ve never had this many at once!

The CME Collection | Acoustics

It may not be the first thing you see when you walk into Chicago Music Exchange but, tucked in the back corner of our store—past the counter, the wall of Les Pauls, and the Gibson thinlines on the left—you’ll find a pair of French doors that open up to our Acoustic Room. Walk in and you’ll find yourself a humidity-/temperature-controlled room, which is essentially a walk-in humidor full of all the six-string (at times, 12-string) acoustic instruments we have, from the most sought-after brands our customers love and are always looking for—all of which can be perused at a glance with one swivel of the head.
