PRS Core — Modern Eagle V

First introduced in 2004, the Modern Eagle has long represented the pinnacle of PRS' Core manufacturing capabilities; however, it was only offered via limited runs until now. Now, the PRS Modern Eagle V continues in that tradition as an official member of PRS' Core lineup. Featuring an innovative pickup and electronics system, which offers a vast array of highly usable, musical tones in one guitar, the Modern Eagle V uses a hum/single/hum (five-coil) pickup layout and features a 5-way blade switch that selects the pickups in intuitive groupings: bridge, bridge and middle, middle, middle and neck, and neck.

The Modern Eagle V comes equipped with a single volume and a push/pull tone control that activates both humbuckers when engaged, allowing players to access all three pickups simultaneously, plus mini-toggles that let players separate the pickup coils, turning the humbuckers into true single coils. This electronics design provides a huge set of classic tones and cutting-edge sonic innovations.

The Modern Eagle V is an innovative instrument that offers highly musical tones for both recording and playing live. Utilizing a hum/single/hum (five-coil) pickup layout and unique electronics configuration, the Modern Eagle V gives players a vast array of tones in one guitar. The 5-way blade switch selects the pickups in intuitive groupings: treble, treble and middle, middle, middle and bass, and bass. There is a single volume and a push/pull tone control that activates both humbuckers when engaged; this allows players to access all three pickups simultaneously. Finally, the mini toggles allow players to individually separate the humbucker coils, turning the outside pickups into true single coils. This electronics design puts a whole set of classic and new tones at your fingertips.

Additional appointments include a maple top and mahogany back, a 22 fret, 25” scale length, Pattern mahogany neck with rosewood fretboard, bone nut, and PRS patented Gen III tremolo.

PRS S2 — 10th Anniversary Guitars

Begun in 2013 to offer the fit, feel, and attention to detail of PRS craftsmanship, the S2 Series—meaning "Stevensville 2"—was named for a second manufacturing line that was created inside the PRS Stevensville, Maryland shop, designed to blend new manufacturing techniques with practiced quality control and workmanship at a new price point for PRS Guitars. Over the past decade, the S2 series has grown from three to more than a dozen models and has become a powerful part of PRS Guitars' offering.

In celebration of the 10th Anniversary of the S2 Series, PRS has added two celebratory models: the 10th Anniversary S2 Custom 24 and McCarty 594 Limited Edition guitars. These special models will retain the guitar's standard specs and add a Cuban mahogany neck, mother-of-pearl bird inlays, and—most notably—USA-made PRS 85/15 and 58/15 LT pickups, respectively. These pickups have been fine-tuned using the PRS TCI process for rich, clear, and balanced tone. Only 2,000 total 10th Anniversary instruments will be made—1,000 of each model.

The 10th Anniversary S2 Custom 24 builds on the original specs of the S2 Custom 24, retaining a maple top, mahogany back, 25” scale length, 24-fret Pattern Thin neck, PRS patented molded tremolo, and PRS low-mass locking tuners. Special appointments include: a Cuban mahogany neck, mother of pearl bird inlays, and – most notably – USA-made PRS 85/15 pickups and electronics. PRS 85/15 pickups bring vintage and modern pickup design together to deliver exceptional clarity and extended high and low end. Fine-tuned using the PRS TCI process, PRS 85/15’s bring balanced, full-spectrum clarity. They are perfect for modern players driving a pedalboard and have enough character to deliver when plugging straight into an amp. The pickups have also been paired with a volume, tone, and 5-way blade switch for the first time in the S2 Series (as opposed to to a 3-way switch with push/pull tone control).

1,000 10th Anniversary S2 Custom 24 Limited Edition instruments will be made.

PRS SE — McCarty and DGT Models

PRS is introducing four new McCarty-family models in the SE Series: the PRS SE McCarty 594, SE McCarty 594 Singlecut, SE McCarty 594 Singlecut Standard, and the SE DGT! It's no accident that these models are all coming to the SE series a the same time: the original McCarty design, released in 1994, was highly influenced by Grissom and was designed to infuse vintage specs in a reliable, modern guitar. When Grissom's signature DGT model was released in 2007 with the addition of a tremolo bridge, tweaked pickups, and a refined neck shape to the McCarty platform, creating a guitar that rivals Grissom's personal vintage favorites.

PRS Amplifiers — The Sonzera Combo Amp Returns!

Named for the Portuguese word meaning “a cool and/or stunning sound,” in the musical sense, the Sonzera 20 is a moderately powered 20-watt combo amplifier with two independently controlled, footswitchable channels for maximum versatility! Returning to the lineup after a brief reprieve, the Sonzera offers mid-1960s American-style tone with a gain channel that can be set as a boosted clean channel or with heavy distortion, plus a spring reverb and built-in effects loop allowing players to easily expand their tonal palette. 

“I am very happy to re-release the new Sonzera 20 combo with improved construction techniques, refined voicing, and fresh cosmetics,” said PRS Amp Designer, Doug Sewell. “Their design inspiration draws from the purity and tonal beauty of vintage American reverb amps of the 60s. The two-channel design is currently unique to the PRS lineup in that the Gain channel is simply the Clean channel with additional gain stages and its own tone stack inserted for discreet lead voicing control. The 12 to 35-watt classic American reverb amps were very inspirational to me as a beginning amp designer in Texas. I consider the Sonzera amps an homage to those early days, and it was especially satisfying and nostalgic to be a part of their development and production.”

The Sonzera 20 is a moderately powered 20-watt combo amplifier with two independently controlled, footswitchable channels designed for maximum versatility. The clean channel delivers full, 3D tones reminiscent of American mid-1960’s amplifiers. The gain channel is related to the clean channel circuit-wise, so that it can be set up to act as a boosted clean channel or manipulated to make the channels sound like two completely different amps (the gain channel can be set from slight to very heavy dis- tortion by simply using the drive and level controls). The bright switch on the gain channel has been carefully tailored to deliver familiar high-end snap and is particularly effective on the low strings, neck pickup settings, and with singlecoils, while the low-end response of the gain channel is full, tight, and clear.

Both channels on the Sonzera are designed to maximize note clarity and definition. The global presence control and the tone stacks allow players to dial in a variety of tones from bell-like chime to warmer, thicker tones. The Sonzera 20 Combo also features global spring reverb control thatis designed to enhance notes without clouding them. The reverb can be turned on and off via the footswitch. The addition of a built-in effects loop allows players to use all their time-based effects with ease without negatively impacting the overall tone of the amp.

With robust construction, a wide range of tones, and steadfast controlla- bility, the Sonzera 20 Combo is a solid gig- and studio- worthy amplifier.
