Two of our Favorite Amplifiers have Been Reimagined for Life in The Vault at Chicago Music Exchange!

Through a secure tunnel that leads deep underground (or through a hallway just off our main showroom floor) lies The Vault at Chicago Music Exchange! Our destination for rare, vintage, & collector-grade guitars is loaded with a rotating, curated collection of pre-CBS Fenders, late ‘50s Les Pauls, and boutique builds that are available for all to see (want to explore The Vault? While we also have a collection of vintage amplifiers to plug into, we’ve never had a Vault Edition of any of our favorite new amplifiers, one that perfectly showcases the qualities that made the guitars in The Vault legendary.

A Classic Gets The Vault Treatment!

We’re huge fans of the Two-Rock Classic Reverb Signature: it’s a single channel amp with massive amounts of headroom, a three way gain structure switch, available tone-stack bypass, and a bright switch. Think of it like a Fender Super Reverb on steroids, where it can do damn near anything!

To give the Classic Reverb Signature a look worthy of being in The Vault, we started with a black chassis, black suede, gold piping, and gold lettering. Then, we reached for an element that will be instantly identifiable for those knowledgeable about vintage Marshall amps: pinstripe cloth.

Marshall combo amps and amp cabinets from 1965-1968 were clad in a cloth comprised of rubberized strips with a cloth background, resulting in a muscular, midrange-forward filtering that rolled off the highest and lowest frequencies (for a sonic example, listen to “The Beano Album”, where Eric Clapton utilized a 1960 Les Paul plugged into an overdriven Marshall Bluesbreaker amplifier). With this grill cloth, the matching 2x12” vertical cabinet gives off holy grail classic rock vibes, and turns every note into a massive performance!

A Vault-Worthy Amp for a Modern Rock Master

Butch Walker is a titan of the modern music industry, working with everyone from Avril Lavigne to Taylor Swift, giving them all a massive rock n roll sound. His signature Divided By 13 BW 1969 is designed around a simple idea: two complete power sections in the same amp, built to run independently or together, for a powerful blend of sounds that always sounds huge! On one side, a pair of EL84s running cathode bias delivers harmonic complexity and immediacy at 16 watts, while a pair of 6L6s on the other side push out 39 watts of authority and low end stability. The two sides can be run together for a combined output of 55 watts, resulting in intense harmonic complexity. This amplifier also has a six-position gain selector and a push-pull bright switch, to shape the resulting tone.

A hand-built, point-to-point wired guitar amplifier designed in collaboration with Butch Walker and built in Divided by Thirteen’s California factory.

It features two independent tube power sections that can be run individually or combined, delivering 17 watts from an EL84 cathode-biased section, 40 watts from a 6L6 fixed-bias section, or a combined output of 57 watts when both are engaged.

A six-position input gain selector provides intentional front-end voicing changes rather than simple gain increases, while a treble control with push-pull Bright switch and a fully tube-buffered effects loop with defeat and Bright option offer practical flexibility without complicating the signal path.

• A proprietary 12-inch, 40-watt guitar speaker built by Celestion in their UK factory.
• It retains the familiar midrange response, natural compression, and musical breakup associated with a classic Greenback, while offering increased power handling for broader use across Divided by Thirteen amplifiers and cabinet configurations.
• The result is a balanced, adaptable speaker that feels familiar under the fingers but remains stable and reliable in higher-power and multi-speaker applications

The matching 2x12” open back cabinet imparts an airy response, and is loaded with new Divided by Thirteen 454 Speakers! These 12”, 40 watt speakers are custom-built by Celestion in their UK factory, and are voiced similarly to a vintage Greenback, but with increased power handling for even more versatility in any setting!
