9 INCREDIBLE Vintage Guitars | New Arrivals!
Trying something new here with a double feature of our popular Instagram series This Just In! Nathaniel and Nick show off a couple incredible guitars that we haven't even unboxed yet! Nick tells us what he looks for when inspecting new arrivals for condition before guitars are sent to processing for a more thorough inspection. There are some heavy hitting guitars here including a 1958 Fender Stratocaster that is world famous and the one of the house guitars at RCA Studios in Nashville!

Alright folks, we normally do this just for Instagram, but today we're going to do a full-feature-length episode for YouTube. Uh, Nick was here a second ago, but we're looking at some cool stuff. Let us know your thoughts and if you'd want more full-length episodes like this. Okay? See you soon. Right, what guitars are we doing before we start filming? Well, oh, we're going to walk and… well, this is kind of a surprise for you guys because this is the real, this is the real, this just… Alright, we'll do that. So we have these that actually just came in this morning. I know what's inside. So we have three special guitars. I'll tell you what they are. Right. And are we recording now? This is up to you. Okay, I didn't know we started. Should we just start again? Right folks, we're down uh, at Nick's desk. By the way, look how he cleaned it because it was always like that. It was! You cleaned it because you knew it was going to be a full, right? Right. This just in. Yeah, literally. This just in. So we came in uh, this morning. Yeah. Uh, we have uh, three special guitars that came in. Um, so I will uh, show you what we got here. Right. Alright, let's have a look then. I believe this one right here is going to be your uh, hell, your… Here we go. Yes. Now go get in the… This will be… This just Nick. Look at all the stickers. Big fan of that. Yeah.
This is a 1938 Martin D18. Oh my word! Oh, Daniel did mention this, and not to tune up to standard just yet. We got to, we got to see if we uh, she showed up. Alright. So we don't know if these are okay or not yet, as far as being damaged, but no, this one looks good. Alright. So what are you looking for then? Um, first and foremost, I'm, I'm always, I check for the headstock right there. If I just see if it's, you know, cracked, busted. But then you also want to look for if there's any separation right here. Um, sometimes, like right between the uh, the fretboard and the neck. Sometimes those will come loose if there's, if they get packed too tight or, you know, crushed. And then usually, you know, you always check here by the heel. Yeah. Yeah. And then especially acoustics, I'll check along the side here because then usually you'll see cracks here or sometimes you'll see splits here. Yeah. Um, and sometimes you don't, sometimes you won't know if that happened in shipping or it's just kind of a humidity issue sometimes. So, but usually we find out ahead of time before there's any kind of like, you know, seam cracks or anything like that. So it looks to be in good nick though, doesn't it? Yeah. Is that, is it me or is it like green on the back here? No, it's just a light sink. It's just color. Just yeah. I mean, we know that we could just tune this up. Yeah. Really quick and give it a couple of uh, couple of strums. Yeah. Now, don't know how much this is going to be just yet. How much? Oh, you know, well, still to be discussed. I… We'll see. Discuss. We do. We have an idea, but uh, the team hasn't looked at it like, as far as uh, inbound guitar processing. Yeah. They'll kind of take a closer look at things. Uh, kind of normal procedure. Yeah. And um, but I mean, we're off to uh, yeah. And then if it's as described, you know, uh, then we'll kind of stick, we'll stick with that price, you know? Yeah. Sometimes we'll all like, hey, this is worth much more, and we'll tell the seller and like, hey, this is worth much more than uh, than we thought. So, you know, you mess with that. I'm going to start, I'm going to do your thing. Oh yeah. Oh yeah. That sounds alright, doesn't it? Yeah. \[ \_ \_ \] hell. That sounds good, doesn't it? It's a good one. Jesus. Yeah. We'll talk about the price on that, Nick. Right. Yeah, talk with Daniel about that.
Yeah. Should I move this out of the way? By the way, throw it uh, throw it right down there. We got a… Next up. Here we go. A Gibson… This will be a… 1960 L-5. Now look at that. That's gorgeous, isn't it? Mhm. Look at that. So probably strum on that one? Probably not. Couple little bits flying around. This one will take a little bit of… Got one, two, another three over there. Yep. Now what, what are they from? Look at that. It's from the uh… It's from the uh, the bridge. The saddles. Oh, okay. Yeah. So usually we'll probably cut this out showing this \[ \_ \_ \] shows up, but usually people secure these a little better when you take too much tension off of this. Oh, this will slide around too much. It'll flip off and then all your s-, your, your bridge and then all your saddles will pop off. Alright. Wonderful looking guitar. How good is that? Do you see a lot of these? Uh, these not so much. Yeah, that is nice, isn't it? What year is it again? 19… 1960. That's lovely, isn't it? Gibson, 1960 on the top. 1961. That's it. I'll give that back to you. So gorgeous car. Well, looking forward to seeing that set up and playing it. L5. Get in there. That's pretty sick, right? Sweet. Cheers, Nick. What you going to play on that? West, some Wiz, right? Got to be with the, with the big old thumb. Just grab the… He grabs the guitar. Yeah. Alright. Right. That's the secret of the oxygen. You got have a a \[ \_ \_ \] up thumb. Again, this is so clean and organized. And Nick, can you talk about your, your box opening technique? I think what… Okay. Walk us through. Walk me through the box. No, I usually, you know, I like, I open them up upside down. Okay. And then just you get your hands in there and then you can pull from the, you know, the… But especially for the shape cases. That's why, you know, right there's box number two. So box three coming up. Yeah, we got, we had four guitars from them, but we personally brought that one back with us. I'm not sure if you… We did. You did. Oh yes. Yes. So this is uh, this is the fourth one. Yeah. Out of the collection. Yeah. Yes. Looking forward to it.
On this one cuz I know what this is. Oh, you know what is it? This will be a rectangle. Okay. Um, here we go. Watch out for those side delts. Get on. Watch out for your side delts coming in. So there's not much in here, Nick. Oh, it's in there. There's a whole guitar in there. Yeah. This is just a slightly larger box. So here we go. Than what we would normally ship in. So it's a nice case. We got a fair idea what it is, right? It's a 58. Can I do this with one hand? Yes. Got a Strat. Oh wow! Look at that! We love a Strat at the moment though, right? Another sun… We are loving the sunburst Strats. Look at that. Is that plastic uh, original? It can't be original. Surely it's too clean. Would have been cracked. So yeah, the original probably was all warped and probably just got brittle. Yeah. So it looks great. Unfortunately, unfortunately… So looks wonderful though. I mean, this is quite the uh, collection of guitars that we're getting in. What's in there? We go. We got some original. We got some old receipts. Oh wow! I don't know what that's from. That's more recent. Always cool to see these little things, isn't it? Yeah. There's just some old… Are we going to do amps as well or… Let's do one. You down for doing an amp? Uh, 1962 Selmer Stadium. Never seen one of them before. Yeah, they're uh, they're pretty neat. And what about this? This one is uh, an Elpico. I don't know much about these. Yeah, this is a '60s amp. I'm trying to think. Have I even seen one of these before? This is, you know
"Yeah, this is a '60s amp. I'm trying to think, have I even seen one of these before?
This is, you know, just metal face and all that. So it's pretty cool. Yeah. Oh look! It's got the English plug. English plug? Oh yeah! Oh wow! Euro? Uh, Euro? Uh, England and England and Ireland. Yeah, also Brazil. Oh, is that the plug in Brazil? Yeah, I mean, that looks crazy. Yeah, that's cool. I bet that cranked up sounds great, right? It's got probably... yeah, this probably the only way it sounds great, up to max volume. So that's cool. But we've got more here as well, right? I mean, we're not going to talk about all of them, just a quick little... they're pretty much... you can take a look. They're all tagged. So yeah. But yeah, some great amps, folks, that we got. This is one of your favorites though, Nick, that we got. 60s a combo, Vox combo from the '60s. The wheels... [sound of wheels] Oh, now we're good. Right? So, couple more amps from this collection. Nick, this is one of your favorites. This would be one of my favorites. I got to say, this ain't bad, is it? So this is... it's obviously a Vox AC30 2x12 combo from the '60s. 3 1/2 grand? No, 3,600 actually. I've never seen one as beat up as that on the front. I kind of like it though. That looks all right, don't it? Was that... it... it was on fire somewhat, I think, by the looks of it. Uh, charred. Uh, never seen these hanging off. That's kind of cool in a weird way. Don't know. Oh, I put that back. More hairs? Uh, there's pro... there's bound to be some. There's bound... there's, uh, I don't know what it is. Is it... it's grass? Is it? That's some pretty thick looking grass. Where's...
Uh, yeah, great box. Uh, so folks, I mean, we've got a lot in that episode there. Shout out to Nick, by the way. Thank you so much for being patient. Uh, yeah, are you going to do this again soon with us? Oh yeah, sure. If I got some good stuff to show you, we'll do it. Right. We'll do it. Right. Cheers, Nick. Thank you. See you later.
Folks, we are back with this just in. Now, I was just in Nashville. What a cool place that is, by the way. And, uh, I brought this back from Nashville. Uh, it's not mine, obviously. Uh, from RCA Studios. I'm not going to say whose it was, but it's definitely been used on some cool stuff down at RCA Studios. You can kind of see what it says there. Uh, this guitar is spectacular. Are you ready for this? Have a look at this. So, I mean, it's absolutely gorgeous. Look at that. Uh, notice the kind of little pearl inlays, um, in those holes there. The neck on this is really, really incredible. I do love the split inlays. Just overall, it's honestly a stunning guitar. I haven't plugged it in yet. Uh, so I'm looking forward to doing that, but I mean, I think we know it's going to sound, uh, out of this world. So this is... where is it? Daniel pointed it out. So 3 818 N. Yeah. So that is it in the, uh, the ledger. A picture of the ledger. Um, this guitar, honestly folks, is absolutely stunning. Um, very rare. It's not cheap because it's that good and it's that rare. Um, it is appropriately repriced, of course. Maybe I'm kind of... should I be saying this kind of stuff? I don't know what I'm talking about. You said you picked it up from, uh, RCA Studios? Uh, won't say who from, but it's, uh, pretty incredible. Look at that. Somebody... we noticed that there. I think somebody liked... what fret are we on there? Somebody liked kind of C position, C sharp, which is a bit odd. You're all right there? W. Sorry. Keep... God bless you, mate. Thank you. Uh, anything there? Yeah, I mean, we got a strap, uh, tuners, blah blah blah. A few different things, but, uh, stunning guitar. Uh, so make sure you check that out whilst you can. Uh, probably isn't going to be here for too long.
Right. Next up, we'll get it in the light. You can see it's a gold top. Uh, pretty incredible. Look at that. 1957 gold top. Uh, really cool. I mean, it's a stunning guitar. I don't know what was there. Maybe a sticker of, of some sort? What would that be? Again, I don't know much about guitars, hence why I'm doing this job. Uh, but just an incredible guitar. I do like that. Oh, one hand shaky. Look at that. Is he going to drop it? No. Um, yeah, I mean, this is amazing. You know, this thing is going to sound great. Uh, frets feel okay. You know, the next... it looks like it's easy to play. A stunning guitar. What price is this? I don't know. Doesn't want to say. I'm not going to say it's more than $1,000. It's more than $1,000. You know, there's... there's a couple. It's a couple of thousand, you know. Um, that's not... I'm not saying it's too grand. It is definitely not too grand, but it's an amazing guitar. We're going to plug this in soon. I'm going to check it out. Look at that. I don't think I've seen that before. Is that... it's almost like a layer under a layer. Kind of like there too. Someone's going to say, "Well, of course there's a layer under layer." Right. Next up, we've got a base. I've not seen this one, so no cheating on this. It's pretty heavy for a base, isn't it? Uh, what does that say? MXR Innovations. It says Gibson on it, so I'm going to assume it is an actual Gibson. Ready? Oh yeah! This is cool. Who picked? Did you pick this one? I want that. Drew picked it. So if you don't like it, folks, it's Drew's fault. No, it is cool. I've not se... I don't think I've seen that on a base. Head stock's weird. Oh yeah! Look at that. Whoa! This is odd. The EV3. So, uh, this folks, uh, EB-3 1971 walnut. This is $2,200. That's not a bad price at all. You really want that? You want... are you going to get this? I... I don't base like that. No, I think you do. I mean, maybe. When are you going to see one of these again? I'd look a lot cooler. You'd rock that. Yeah, that'd look good on you, mate. See? Nah. Don't suit me. I look [makes a face] with it, don't it? No. This, uh, I mean, that's a cool base. What was the EB we had? EB-1? We still have? Oh, we still got it. That violin shaped one. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I think EB-2s are ES shaped. Yeah. Like they're bigger body. Oh yeah! That... that's a cool base. And then remember the Eb-6? That's... that was a crazy one.
That's the six. Yeah, I like the headstock and the and the tuners. I'm into that. High school guitar. Yeah, that's odd. Well, there we have it. Nice, uh, little base. Right. So we got a couple more left. Right. So next up, we're going to do two at the same time. Kind of leaning on the edge. Good job. We have two cameras. Uh, so we can get both angles of it falling. What's the smartest way for me to do this now? Um, it's kind of like this, right? I don't know about that. No, we can manage this. Yeah, I guess so. Right folks. Don't worry, folks. We're good. We're good.
"Oh right. Can you get both of them? And then I'll grab this, uh, and yeah, description on it. Right folks! Oh, what the [__]! I got them, I got them. Do you know, I'll just do this. This is easier. All right. Right folks. So these are... What year are these again? 66. So these are both from 1966. Both candy apple red, right? Yes. Uh, looks slightly different though, right? This one looks darker, or is that just me? Yeah. Now, why is that? I don't know, Daniel. That's a, that's a video for Daniel. But of course, uh, the big thing, uh, maple neck and obviously a rosewood neck. Is it rosewood? Mhm. Yeah. Uh, what would you go for? What's... Are you rosewood or maple? I'm maple wood. Yeah. My fingers are like kind of sweaty and really maple boards really gets all gross and gunky. Yeah. See, I'm useless for that kind of stuff. I... I mean, I prefer maple, but I wouldn't be asked. Do you know what I mean? I do like rosewood. Uh, neck does feel good on this. It feels really good, I got to say. Uh, folks, what would you go for? Are you going the candy apple rosewood or candy apple maple? We're going to plug these both in at some point. Do a little comparison. Yeah. Look at the little bit of wear and tear down at the bottom. Like that. That's nice. Yeah. Both the paints taste the same. They probably do, right? That's definitely darker, isn't it? Yeah, 100%. Yeah. Gorgeous. I mean, to match the... I would... I'd take either of them though. Look at that gap. By the way, that stick, the way you're holding that, is insane. Right then, good to go? Yes, sir. Right folks. That was this just in. Uh, that was quite a heavy episode. Loaded episode, I suppose you could say. Uh, this is my pick of the day. It could have been any of them apart from the base, of course, you know. Um, this is my pick of the day. Uh, it's stunning. It could have been, you know, the gold top or the telly's, but it's got to be this. Come check it out whilst you can, 'cause it will not be here for too long. Sweet."
