Description & Specs

"Marrying his love of country with hard rock, Chris Shiflett of the Foo Fighters, as well as his own band, Chris Shiflett & the Dead Peasants, teamed up with Fender to create a classic Telecaster with more than enough modern bite. Based on his own ’72 Tele Deluxe, the Fender Chris Shiflett Telecaster’s classic looks and construction are augmented with expanded tone controls, two specially-voiced “CS” signature humbucking pickups with nickel covers, and a maple “C”-shape neck with 12” fingerboard radius.

About Fender Artist Series:

Founded by Leo Fender in 1938 as Fender’s Radio Service, what is now the Fender Musical Instruments Corporation began making electric guitars and amplifiers in 1945. The rest, as they say, is history. Creator of the world’s first mass-produced, and by far most popular, solid-bodied electric, Fender is now the world’s leading guitar manufacturer.

Developed hand-in-hand with some of the biggest artists of yesterday and today, the Fender Artist Series is a collaborative line of signature models incorporating hand-selected tonewoods and custom appointments and specs, voiced to specific tones and playing styles by our master builders and the artists themselves. Stratocasters, Telecasters, Jaguars, Jazzmasters, and Jazz, Precision, and Jaguar basses take on new life with the help of some of music’s most revered icons.

Fantastic Guitar at Any Price

I own a few Telecasters, mostly American... as well as a few other MIM Fenders. I love it when I find a great MIM Fender, as they are great value. Of course, this can vary from guitar to guitar, even within the same model. That all said, I struck gold with this one. The guitar is beautiful and the neck is GREAT. Sounds killer. The factory setup was pretty bad, but it was mostly because of the saddles. They were all over the place and the string spacing was pretty messed up. The neck it self was al most perfect and I simply adjusted the truss rod for my location. After putting some time on the saddles I got an awesome setup on it. I have however ordered Graphtech saddles for it because I do not like the stock Fender bent steel saddles. They sound great, but if you play a lot of palm muting, they are really abrasive on your hands. I'm not exactly sure about this choice of saddle here. Chris Shifflet might not be a metal player, but plenty of Foo Fighter songs use a lot of palm muting. Anyway, I normally don't expect a guitar to arrive with a perfect setup. It's just important to me that it CAN be set up right. And that I did. Anyway, I also wanted to point out the experience of buying from CME. This was my first large purchase from them. I had recently had a very bad experience with a different shop. I was very pleased with CME. My only interaction with them was the day I ordered, however, customers do notice the little things. The guitar was packed better than most other guitar orders I've ordered over the last 20 years. And I really liked the extra detail case candy they added. I expect to buy from CME again.
