Description
As the popularity of Fender musical instruments grew throughout the ‘50s, Leo Fender’s guitar design ideas flourished into new instrument models, like the Jazzmaster, which debuted in 1958. Originally intended to tempt jazz guitarists into playing solid-body electric guitars, this futuristic electric guitar is about as far from a boxy archtop as might be imagined. Although the Jazzmaster may have failed to catch on with the jazz crowd, its comfort-contoured offset body appealed to surf players in the ‘60s, and later became a staple of indie-rock, alternative, and even country players, who created a resurgence of interest around this instrument and have sustained its popularity into the present day.
