Description

The 1959 Les Paul™ Standard has long been the benchmark for solidbody electric guitars, prized for its balance of elegance, power, and unmistakable musical character. This Limited Edition 1959 Les Paul Standard Reissue, Heavy Aged, Faded Peach Burst, brings that legendary design into sharp focus with a level of detail and artistry that could only come from the Gibson Custom Shop in Nashville, Tennessee. Crafted in a small-batch run as part of Gibson Custom’s Limited Edition Collection, it reflects decades of Made to Measure orders and the skill of the artisans who continue to shape the company’s most sought-after instruments.

At the center of this reissue is a hand-selected AAA figured maple top chosen by the Made to Measure team for its exceptional character and beauty. Beneath it lies a lightweight, one-piece solid mahogany body with no weight relief, creating the resonance, sustain, and dynamic response that define the finest late 50s Les Paul Standards. The Heavy Aged nitrocellulose lacquer finish, executed artfully by the Murphy Lab, introduces a beautifully worn feel, with lacquer checking, softened edges, and the kind of played-in comfort associated with well-loved originals from the first Gibson Golden Age.

The mahogany neck is carved to the celebrated Authentic 1959 profile and joined to the body with a long neck tenon, enhancing sustain and overall solidity. The rosewood fretboard features reissue medium jumbo frets, single-ply binding, cellulose trapezoid inlays, and a 12-inch radius for a familiar and expressive playing experience. A period-correct nylon nut completes the setup.

Electronics remain true to its vintage inspiration. A pair of Custombucker Alnico 4 pickups with Double Classic White bobbins and aged nickel covers provides the harmonic complexity, sweetness, and dynamic bloom associated with original late 50s Patent Applied For humbuckers. Paired with two volume and two tone controls and a three-way toggle switch, the result is a tonal palette ranging from crystalline cleans to muscular overdrive, all with unmistakable vintage character.

The hardware set is anchored by an ABR-1 Tune-O-Matic™ bridge and a Stop Bar tailpiece, both finished in aged nickel to match the guitar’s Heavy Aged aesthetic. Kluson® Deluxe tuners, cream plastics, and gold Top Hat control knobs round out a period-accurate presentation, while the included Lifton™ reissue hardshell case and Certificate of Authenticity reinforce its status as a true Gibson Custom instrument.

From the hand-chosen maple top to its nuanced aging and historically faithful build, this Limited Edition 1959 Les Paul Standard Reissue stands as a compelling example of Gibson Custom’s enduring craftsmanship and its commitment to honoring the most revered electric guitar ever made.
