Description

The following specs were carefully collected and recorded by a skilled technician. For a more detailed description and questions regarding sound, feel, or cosmetic condition, please visit our Lincoln Avenue showroom or call to speak to one of our Used and Vintage experts.
Finish Details: Original Gibson factory sparkling burgundy finish. There is an area of refin/overspray over a headstock repair.
Body Material: Maple
Body Details: Laminated maple top, back, and sides.
Neck Material: Mahogany
Fingerboard Material: Rosewood
Neck Profile: C
Neck Thickness (IN): 1st - .83" & 12th - .98"
Fingerboard Radius: 12.00"
Nut Width: 1-9/16"
Scale Length: 24 3/4"
Neck Details: Mahogany neck with a bound rosewood fingerboard and small block inlays. The fingerboard has been re-fretted and the neck has been reset. The headstock appears to not be original but instead a factory replacement from Gibson from a later year. This is apparent due to the presence of two scarf joints under the nut and first frets. The pointed triangle inlays are constant with 1968 while the serial number dates to 1967. In addition there is a headstock repair above the scarf joint from a later date that has been finished over. This area of over-spray/refin is apparent under black light while the rest of the guitar is consistent with a Gibson factory finish.
Electronics: Original Gibson patent number humbucker with a three-position switch, two volume pots, and two tone pots. All electronics appear to be original. Some solder joints have been touched up and the pot codes are covered by solder.
Pickup Measurements: Bridge: 7.54kΩ Neck: 7.44kΩ
Hardware: Original tuners, nut, bridge, and tail-piece. The knobs are not original.
Weight: 8lbs 3oz
Modifications/Repairs: -At some point, the headstock was replaced by Gibson. This is apparent due to the presence of two scarf joints under the nut and first frets. The serial number of the guitar dates to 1967 while the diamond inlays did not start to have sharp points until 1968. -There is also a headstock repair from a later break above the scarf joints. The finish was over-spray/refin over the repair. -Neck has been re-set. -Fingerboard has been re-fretted. -Touched up solder joints. -Non-original knobs.
Case Details: Original Hardshell Case
Cosmetic Condition: Guitar is in good cosmetic condition for it's age. The finish has aged nicely and shows checking and play wear throughout. There is a signature on the pickguard.
Serial Number: 042108
Tech Notes: This ES-335 plays well with low action and optimal neck relief. The frets are tall and show moderate play wear. It has been properly setup and intonated in standard tuning with 9 gauge strings. -The serial dates to 1967.
