The Songwriter may have been first introduced in 2003, but in combining the traditional, hand-scalloped X-bracing of the 1930s with Gibson’s original square-shoulder dreadnaught shape the Songwriter Standard is a timeless representation of the manufacturer’s long, rich history of acoustic innovation. It should come as no surprise then, with rosewood back and sides and a sitka spruce top, that it sings with a wide dynamic range and tonal quality that can only come from decades of mastery. About Gibson Montana:Luthier Orville Gibson founded the Gibson Mandolin-Guitar Mfg. Co. Ltd. in Kalamazoo, MI in 1902. Its original aim was to make mandolins and mandolin-family instruments.
