Noble and Cooley has made three separate and distinct metal snare drums.  The original limited edition Zildjian Alloy Snare was the brainchild of Noble & Cooley and the Zildjian Cymbal Co. Built using the secret Zildjian alloy materials, it has become one of the most prized drums in the collector’s market. Since metal snare drums have been popular with drummers for decades, we realized the demand for the drum meant it was time to add an in-house “Alloy Classic” to our line of high-end snare drums. Made of cast aluminum, and one of our most highly regarded products, this versatile drum is owned and used regularly by some of the biggest names in the drum world.  As of 2019, we now offer the Copper Classic in a 6 inch depth for drummers looking for a dryer tone with a sharp attack.

The Alloy Classic is built of cast aluminum, as opposed to rolled sheet metal, or sliced from tubing. This process gives the drum a porous shell, resulting in denser sound. By tuning the heads high, the drum still maintains the "crack" or "pop" of a metal drum, while looser tunings give way to the warmness more commonly associated with a wood shell.
