The Richard Fortus Collection

"Plugging into this amp is life changing.  Plugging in a couple of vintage 4x12’s and hitting a chord causes the earth to shift just a bit on its axis.  It’s unlike anything else.  This is heaviest, most brutal tone ever.  Sounds like a plexi Super Lead but harmonically, an octave lower.  A friend compares it to John Lord’s B3.  Just massive. The 150 sounds different to a Super Lead, with more clean low thumpy low end and more 3 dimensional.

These black plexi 150’s with the offset handle are incredibly rare.  The chrome paneled 150’s are more common.  The plexi version is different.  This is truly a unique beast.  The transformers are huge and the plate voltage is very high.  The current trend towards smaller amps is understandable.  Most people don’t have the ability to crank 180 watts in their home studios.  I love the sound of 4 KT88’s.  There’s nothing like it.  What i do with these amps is to run one 4x12 and the other side i run in to a UA OX.  Or you can run the entire load on to a Fryette Power Load.  This amp can go from super 3d fat clean to absolutely ferocious when cranked.  There is no other amp like it.  "  - Richard Fortus
