Roland JC-40

I had been wanting a Roland JC-120 for a long time, and when I finally had the money to buy one, I decided that the JC-40 would be better for me. It has a headphone output, is much lighter than the JC-40, and in our house, I don't usually turn a 40 watt amp up much past 1 anyway. I had been using a Fender Princeton Chorus, and really liked the sound, but owning some other Roland amps, I knew that Roland's reputation for clean, clear tones was well deserved. So, I bought the JC-40. I was not disappointed. I plugged in a Gibson Les Paul with P-90s, and it sounded pretty good. I tried my PRS with humbuckers, and it also sounded okay. But with both guitars, I was worried that the JC-40 wasn't as great as I had expected. They both sounded very clean and clear, but almost too clean and clear. They didn't seem to have any character, like the Princeton Chorus gave out. But it turns out that I wasn't used to getting the real, exact sound of a specific guitar out of an amp, because I plugged in my Epiphone ES-339... and it is sweet! I finally have the sound that I've been looking for! Smooth... clean... full... reverb... chorus... I've tried some pedals, and they work great, but I don't feel that I even need them. The Roland JC-40 is definitely worth the money. Buying from Chicago Music Exchange was easy and pleasant. My amp was delivered quickly, packed very well, and I have no complaints. Thank-you, Chicago Music Exchange!
