A psychedelic, Special-Edition Pedal Set Inspired by Deep Purple Guitarist Ritchie Blackmore.
Catalinbread is back with more fresh-baked goodies! The Special Edition Dreamcoat & Skewer Box Set explores the signature sound of Deep Purple guitarist Ritchie Blackmore, channeling some of his favorite gear into compact enclosures that bring out the best in each other.
The Dreamboat replicates the circuitry of Blackmore’s Aiwa TP-1011 reel-to-reel preamp, increasing the voltage for tons of headroom, crystal clear cleans, chiming leads, and crazy crunch, with an added “Sat” control and frequency booster circuit for a richer overall tone with more power. As a bonus, Catalinbread includes a clean blend circuit, kicking in after the frequency boost and ending just after the tape preamp.

Of course, there has to be a Treble Booster in the mix. The Skewer takes on Blackmore’s Hornby-Skewes, replicating the silicon transistor circuitry for cutting bite with frequency range, boost, and transistor gain control. What’s more, Catalinbread has modded it just like Blackmore’s, adding a master volume accessible via the internal trimpot, along with a few touches of their own like the noise-reduction filter and anti-pop switch circuitry.
While the set is a Blackmore-in-a-box solution to legendary rock tone, Catalinbread wants to clarify that the Special Edition Dreamcoat & Skewer Box Set is not an imitation. Rather, it’s their way of providing the rest of us with impossible-to-get gear in a user-friendly design so that we, too, can be inspired to create new sounds, just as one young man was back in South Mimms, Hertfordshire, England, in the late 1960s.

Call, click, or stop in to get this special-edition box set while it lasts. Quantities are limited; shades of Deep Purple are forever.

In the world of boutique tube amplifiers, few names carry the reputation of Two-Rock Amplifiers. Founded in 1999 and originally inspired by Dumble and high-end Fender tones, Two-Rock Amps has long since developed an identity entirely its own — one defined not just by how the amp sounds, but by how it feels. Touch sensitivity and dynamic response are at the core of every Two-Rock circuit, creating an instrument-like playing experience that has turned players like John Mayer, Eric Johnson, and Joe Bonamassa into believers. At Chicago Music Exchange, we carry a full selection of Two-Rock Amplifiers across a range of models, configurations, and colors — and seemingly everyone who plugs into one doesn't want to stop.
