The CME Collection | ACOUSTICS
Take A Tour Of The Best Flat-Top Acoustic Guitars In Our Store!
It may not be the first thing you see when you walk into CME but, tucked in the back corner of our store—past the counter, the wall of Les Pauls, and the Gibson thinlines on the left—you’ll find a pair of French doors that open up to our Acoustic Room. Walk in and you’ll find yourself a humidity-/temperature-controlled room, which is essentially a walk-in humidor full of all the six-string (at times, 12-string) acoustic instruments we have, from the most sought-after brands our customers love and are always looking for—all of which can be perused at a glance with one swivel of the head.
And with the new additions added from The CME Collection, you’ll find one of the largest assortments of the highest-quality vintage, used and new acoustics from Gibson, Martin, and Taylor—in addition to boutique brands like Atkin, Santa Cruz, Lowden—including some of the most collectible historic models and cutting-edge advancements you’ll find all together in one room, anywhere!
Gibson Montana @ CME
Right when you walk into the Acoustic Room, you’ll probably notice our new Gibson Montana (and Epiphone) flat-top acoustic guitars along the far wall, prominently displaying many of the most beloved acoustic guitar models, preferred by artists around the world over the past century, ever since the introduction of the first Gibson flat-tops in 1926 with the first L-1 models.
But, before we make it to the back of the Acoustic Room where we keep the vintage and used Gibson models, make sure you don’t miss the latest additions from The CME Collection—including a Gibson Custom Advanced Jumbo Flamed Maple, or Gibson Songwriter Mystic (1 of 65). Plus, you can’t miss the Gibson Hummingbird Custom Quilt featuring custom inlays and blue finish!
Boutique Brands @ CME: Atkin Acoustics
If you’re easily entranced by Gibson acoustics, make sure you don’t miss (or trip over!) our display tables right in the front. There, you’ll see Atkin Acoustics meticulously crafted in the U.K. to pay tribute to particular historical acoustic guitar designs that the luthier, Alister Atkin, loves.
It’s worth noting that CME has helped build a following of Atkin acoustic guitar aficionados over on this side of the pond, and we now offer the largest collection of Atkin Guitars in the United States.
Taylor Guitars @ CME
To the right of the Atkin Acoustics table, you’ll see our full-wall display of Taylor Guitars, featuring the latest assortment of tonewoods the company offers—from the Academy Series and Baby Taylors to their latest GT and American Dream series, plus a full selection of 300-900 series—all the way to our assortment of Taylor Custom guitars sporting woods that have been hand-picked by our expert acoustic guitar buying team.
Plus, with The CME Collection added to our Taylor inventory, we now have more Taylor Custom models than we’ve ever offered! So, if you’re looking for the perfect Taylor Custom to suit your refined sonic and aesthetic sensibilities, ask about our additions included as part of The CME Collection!
Martin Guitars @ CME
Of course, the CME Acoustic Room would be incomplete without the classic acoustic models from America’s oldest guitar manufacturer on our wall. Along the far wall, past the Gibsons, you’ll see the quintessential square-shouldered dreadnought—the guitar that helped displace the banjo as America’s most popular form of acoustic accompaniment.
From D18s to D45s, from 0s to 000s to OMs—there’s a body shape and size to fit any Martin player along our walls. Plus, ask us about our new additions with new items from The CME Collection—including a Martin D28 Authentic 1937 Natural Aged, as well as a Martin Custom Shop Dreadnought!
Vintage & Used Acoustics @ CME
Once you’ve wandered to the back of CME’s L-shaped Acoustic Room, past the Taylor wall, you’ll see a selection of guitars that help define what we do here at Chicago Music Exchange, reminding collectors CME’s not just a premium shop for vintage and used electrics!
In fact, some of the most historic collectible- and player-grade vintage and used instruments that have come through our store have been featured prominently in the back corner of our Acoustic Room, where we feature the historic vintage guitar models that have inspired bedroom guitarists and professional musicians for over a century of recorded music!

In the world of boutique tube amplifiers, few names carry the reputation of Two-Rock Amplifiers. Founded in 1999 and originally inspired by Dumble and high-end Fender tones, Two-Rock Amps has long since developed an identity entirely its own — one defined not just by how the amp sounds, but by how it feels. Touch sensitivity and dynamic response are at the core of every Two-Rock circuit, creating an instrument-like playing experience that has turned players like John Mayer, Eric Johnson, and Joe Bonamassa into believers. At Chicago Music Exchange, we carry a full selection of Two-Rock Amplifiers across a range of models, configurations, and colors — and seemingly everyone who plugs into one doesn't want to stop.
