Gretsch G5230 and CME Exclusive Home Run!

Transaction with CME (Chicago Music Exchange) was quick, fast, and easy. Ordered on Sat. Rec'd on Wed. CME packed the guitar very well with 2 boxes and plenty of bubble wrap. Also included was a CME Certification checklist indicating the guitar was given the inspection/once-over before being shipped (Thanks Victor!). Finish and feel of the guitar was flawless, and believe me, I looked VERY closely. Guitar was detuned for shipping. After tuning up, I strummed a few chords; they were loud, resonant, and full. And I still hadn't plugged in yet. The guitar was set up perfectly. Neck is smooth and straight. Action is low and fast. Daphne Blue color is stunning and exclusive to CME. I was unable to plug in immediately because of work/family commitments, and it was KILLING me! Finally, a few days later, I plugged into my Supro Jupiter: crystal clear highs, snappy twang, and very articulate definition of chords. Then I hit the GFS Twin Overdrive (Tube Screamer clone): BIG rocknroll crunch! Then I hit the Warm Audio Foxy Fuzz for solo lines: Hendrix Freak Out! The Black Top Filter Trons are clear and defined both clean or overdriven. Bottom line: the guitar looks great and plays great. I am a very satisfied customer and will do biz again with Chicago Music Exchange. Thanks CME! :

Amazing guitar except for 1 thing

This was the first instrument that I have purchased through CME and I purchased it online. Everything was packaged great and safely and arrived on time. The guitar is amazing and I had been looking into purchasing a Gretsch 5220 for awhile but when I saw this exclusive color and Filtertrons I decided to purchase this guitar. Again it plays great and sounds amazing. The only problem it has is that the bridge buzzes and it is driving me crazy. I reached out to customer service about this and had a back and forth over weeks (of course putting it past a refund date) with very slow email responses. Finally they said they would look into replacing the bridge. No response for a week. Then I followed up and they said this is "actually quite common" so they will not replace and then actually tried to upsell me on an upgraded bridge as the "best way to eliminate it." So great guitar, very poor customer service experience. I don't think I plan on making any future purchases through CME.

If you decide you'd like to return an item, please contact your Sales Rep, chat us, or give us a call.

If you placed your order on Amazon or eBay, we advise issuing the return request from your account on the platform of purchase - our Customer Service team will process a refund upon receipt of the item(s).

Most new items may be returned within 30 days of delivery and most vintage & used items may be returned within 3 days of delivery for a full refund, exchange, or store credit. Please pack the product safely for the journey back to us. If the product was shipped for free, the charge will be deducted from refund, unless the reason for the return is outside normal circumstances.
