Bass guitars serve as the low end of the harmonic framework for most musical ensembles. Bass guitars are also often considered part of the rhythm section and are played in many different styles that include plucking, slapping, popping, tapping thumping and picking to help establish a beat. Bass guitars typically have four-strings – although five-string, six-string and even eight and twelve-string extended range basses are also available. At Chicago Music Exchange, we are proud to have an entire floor dedicated to bass guitars, fondly referred to as The BASSment.
